Hemodynamic monitoring - invasive

What are the different types of Invasive hemodynamic monitoring and their functions: Arterial line, PA catheter, CVP, or cardiac output monitoring. Does a central line fit in with invasive hemodynamic montoring? Or is it just used for medication?

Part of InterQual criteria is payment coverage for an invasive hemodynamic monitoring, but I don't understand all the lines, thanks in advance!

A swan ganz cath is needed for Caridac output/Cardiac index, PA pressure and wedge. A central line can get a CVP/right atrial pressure.

You can use a central line for meds and IVF too. You can also infuse through a Swan ganz cath in certian ports.

Arterial line is usually in the wrist or groin, but can be in the brachial artery, axillary artery, and dorsalis pedis artery. This line is used to measure BP and take arterial blood for repeated ABG's. This line is also used for strict BP control. We use them in the neuro ICU ro manage vasospasams in SAH patients.
