Hello, everyone. I am in need of some serious help here! I am enrolled in Excelsior ADN program I have been trying to get through my first course... Life Span Developmental Psych, and I have been studying for a year now, but everytime I take a practice test, there are questions that were not covered in my text. I did not get the package through Excelsior{ thinking I could save some money} and like the fool that I am I got talked into buying the useless material from Chancellor's , which was the worst rip off I have ever seen in my life!! I just ordered the guided package from Excelsior, so I guess I spent 3 times what I should have in the first place! Live and learn! Can anybody tell me .. if you have gone through Excelsior.. will this help me? I feel like I'm going under for the third time, and my sweetie is starting to get a little annoyed that I haven't tested yet. He thinks I'm just wasting money that we don't have. But i want to do this so bad...been an LPN for 28 years, and I would like to become an RN before it's time to retire!!! Please, anyone who can help me ... ??? :o :scrying: :chair:

I don't know much about the Exclesior ADN program, but i would think if you have the materials that match the program, you would be better off. I hope everything works out for you. I congratulate you on trying :)

If you have the time can you explain what the Excelsior ADN program is and how it's set up? Can you really get your RN through this program?

I've "heard" or seen that Rue has excellent material to prepare students for Exams ! I know that there are some people on the BB that have gone through the Excelsior program and used Rue.

You could do a search under Regents or Rue or even Excelsior on this BB, that would help.

:wink2:

I took Life Span Psychology and Human Growth and Dev. through a traditional college and it was pretty easy, maybe they are making the course harder than what it is. Good Luck. :)

Like mkue I took this course through a traditional college. I think you would find it a lot easier and it would get accomplished if you now took this route. Many schools offer this course online or through their televised courses so you might not have to go to the campus. For the extra expenditure of the approp text and some time you could just go ahead and get it out of the way in a matter of several more weeks. I have noticed that many have been happy with Rue. Something else to consider. Don't know if you can get a refund or not pay any further to get away from Chancellors. I am going straight through Excelsior and saving the extra money. However, I have to do all my own research, reading, and study. I think it would go faster with Rue. Good luck and hey, get started!

I admire you for being an LPN for 28 years !! Have you talked to anyone at Chancellors or Excelsior to let them know how frustrated you are? One would think that they would stand by their products. I would certainly give them a call to make sure that you have the appropriate material to study and hopefully pass the exam:eek: Sorry I'm not much help:)

Hi , everyone... thanks for your replies... I have ordered their study materials and I recieved them... I feel better and I think it's gonna be full speed ahead from now on!

Recnurse- Have you looked into RUE study systems ? In nursing concepts one right now and it seems pretty easy, read this, do this pretest then test. lots of hand holding going on you end up graduating thru Excelsior, rue just helps with passing excelsiors test. good luck.
