I live in California. I was fired at the end of October, 2018. My managers weren’t very clear about if they were going to report me or not. I got another job and have been saving as much money as I can in fear that the board will suspend my license at some point in the near future. I’m just wondering how long it took from you getting terminated and the board contacting you. Please answer from any state, but especially California. This would be immensely helpful!!! I am filled with panic and dread every time I check the mail and just wonder how long this process could take. Thanks for taking time to read this.

I was a self-reported member. Two months after getting let go. I went from self-report status to board-referred. So 2 months before I got word from BON. since I was already in the program, they said continue on.
My work didn’t report me contingent that I fax all my proof that I voluntarily join as a self-report. They still did the complaint. I guess they had to, but didn’t matter. I’m just grateful they ended there. I suppose they could’ve went further by pressing charges, but they didn’t.
That was 2008. Done ??

I self reported, got the whole shebang of BS. Money/ soul sucking uncalled for rehab and all...was back home, under contract and and had found a crappy job that was the only thing I could get....like over a year after that seminal phone call...when the board finally got to me. All of a sudden, I get this “your license is suspended until you are evaluated by ........blah blah blah.....” ummm, hello, folks....could someone be bothered to tell these people that I already crucified myself voluntarily? Apparently not. The letter I wrote back when I initially got contacted by some investigator (who lied and said if ‘I kept doing what I was doing, I’d never hear from them again.” Right. Okay”) that stated that I was already involved with the program and so forth was ignored.
So basically, I got board ordered, with public discipline and a huge fine, into something I had already long since done voluntarily, in an effort to avoid just that...because supposedly that’s what we are encouraged to do. Whatever.
What has grasshopper learned? Trust nobody and believe nothing when it comes to this stuff.
