Hi everyone--
I'm at a hospital that sees a pretty good percentage of Arabic-speaking patients, and I'd like to start learning some basic Arabic to be able to communicate. To that end, I'm hoping some of you can give me a few pointers:
* Where should I look for classes, and/or whose learning materials (books, audio, etc) should I use?
* Does anyone's class or materials specifically cover medical Arabic?
* How about Chaldean dialect? Is it worth learning, and are there classes? (I ask because we have a huge Chaldean population here, and got burned that way in my CVSICU preceptorship - a patient who only spoke that one dialect, with whom the Arabic-speaking cardiologist was unable to communicate, and for which AT&T had no translator. We were completely dependent on the family to translate. It didn't end well.)
Thank you in advance for your assistance! :)

Hi there,
Other than telling you to check out your local community college &/or university for Arabic classes, or maybe getting started with the software Rosetta Stone, I won't be of much help, but I wanted to latch on to this thread because I need to brush up on my Arabic, and was looking for Medical Arabic resources in particular...
Thanks for starting this!
Peace
Lily

Hello Murphyle,
As my native language is Arabic, I can help you to learn and practice some of easy Arabic words and sentences which can help you?
I studied my nursing in English in my homeland and I used to translate most of the medical terms in my language I can really help with teaching you to pronounce these words.
About the Chaldean dialect really I don't know any !!!!
I could not send you message because am not good at using the website.
if you don't mind to send me your email.
