I keep hearing that it is a waste of time to become a LPN. Everyone keeps saying why not go straight for the RN. I had decided to do the LPN just to gain experience and get my RN while I would be working. Everyone says that the RN's treat the LPN'S liek crap because they have a hire degree.I also hear that most Hospitals in Richmond do not hire LPN's. Is that true? I really need to hear from someone a.s.a.p as I have a decision to make. I really want to be able to enjoy being a nurse without someone always feeling they are superior to me and what I do does not matter.

Greetings and WELCOME to Allnurses! :)
There are literally dozens of threads on this topic, so let me guide you to just a couple of them here:
https://allnurses.com/forums/f8/lpn-vs-rn-serious-question-about-differences-230306.html
https://allnurses.com/forums/f50/program-apply-lpn-vs-rn-203080.html
You may be able to find more info in the General Nursing Student Discussion forum as well.. or you can do a search in the search box above by typing in "LPN or RN".. or "LPN vs. RN"
Hope that helps ! Wish you the best in whichever you decide! And remember... BOTH are NURSES !!!
Thank you so much! That really helped me a whole lot
Glad to help . :)
