Help LPN to RN School school advice

Published

Hi,

I am 25 years old and I am thinking about going to LPN school starting sometime in 07. I am currenty working in the customer service field and I am very unhappy and I don't know how much more I can take it:angryfire !I am going to one of those Tech schools so I will not have to take prereq classes before LPN. The only problem list that the AP I and APII will not transfer to any other school. But at the same time looking for another job in customer service job is hard because companies are sending a lot of customer service jobs overseas and I only have a high school dipoma (some college) make it harder to find a job. Here is my questions I do not want to stop at LPN I want to one day become a RN. The only question I have was that is should I take my prereq' now but that means I will not start LPN until 09. But I would only have one year left to become a RN. I hear that it is hard trying to find a jobs as a LPN. At the same time I could have a job in the field that I want to be in. What should I do? ;)

Hi mydee,

Have you looked into a CNA program to give you a jumpstart?? The hospitals in my area are phasing out LPN's. They either go back to school to get the RN or find a new job. If I were you, I would go for the RN.

The only exeption to that would be if you wanted to work in a Long Term Care facility. They love hiring LPN's. They don't have to pay them as much and they still work their butts off.

SEEEEEE, this is the one obstacle I can't afford to bump into.:o I have heard that API and APII are hard enough to pass the first time. And I too want too want a BSN. I plan on working in the ER or ICU/CCU. Is this BM your talking about? What about IVY Tech? They have an LPN program and a bridge program LPN-RN.

Don't get frustrated & DON'T give up!
