I will be graduating May 6th and taking boards soon after...but I know that I am going to continue on for my RN or BSN. I have checked different programs that I have heard about...but I cant seem to get any info on what pre-req's are needed...and such. I looked into the Indiana school...and they sent me a letter saying Louisiana's state board doesnt recognize there program...so thats out. I have been told to check out Excelsior...but cant seem to find the program syllabus so I can see what pre-req's are required. I also heard of a program named Ruth...but cant find any info on it. So I am asking for your help...and any info you can give me on the programs listed...or any others out there...for an LPN-RN or LPN-BSN...is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in Advance....Cathy

:balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons:Hello Cathy!!! and congrats to you for almost getting your Lpn. I was a Lpn for 8 years. About 5 months after obtaining LPN started working on ADN-RN through Regents College (which is now Excelsior College). This took me a long 8 years... LOL... my own fault though. It is hard to stay focused when you are your own teacher.. There wasn't any on-line back then, as there is now..
Where I live (MD), they no longer accept EC/ADN degree.. Be very careful with this... check out your school and your board of nursing to make sure that all is on the up and up before proceeding. I really loved EC.. They have made things a little tougher now though. They will send you a catalog if you request one. YOU will need A&P 1-2, psych, delopmental psych(lifespan) so many humanities credits, soc. english comp 1-2, a computer literacy course, microo, and of course all of the nursing concepts etc. The CPNE is a clinical comp. exam and is a killer, but it can be done... If I had it all to do over again, I would have just did a bridge program @ a community college, or did BSN. You really have to be very motivated to do this program.. If you are very motivated you could get it done pretty quick.. Of course you would have pre-req's, but you may have a lot of these already.. BEWARE, there are tons of publishing companies out there (Rue, college network, istudy smart.com) that you purchase materials to be able to study and pass your exams.. These materials can be purchased on e-bay.. for much, much cheaper than the 3-5k that you will shell out for these.. Don't do it!!! Check out yahoo groups. They have study groups dedicated to students going to EC ect. Very helpful.. Well sorry so long. Hope this helps. I graduated from EC ADN in 2005. Will most likely do BSN with them as well. TAKE Care... if I can help you with anything else please let me know..

Call Excelsior and ask for the nursing catalog. If you have any college credits they will review them to see if they can be appied at EC. The catalog will tell what courses are required and cost of courses and test fees. you can get study materials on ebay or from ec. look at excelsiors web site if you haven't already. I like this program I have done all my required classes with them waiting for CPNE now.Leo2
