Help! ITT Closed and I'm enrolled in IOT to get my LPN

Published

Hello, my name is Kristina G, and I was completing my first year in nursing school when suddenly ITT Tech closed their doors for good. Now thousands of students are stuck in a position where our credits won't transfer to community colleges or programs that are similar to the accelerated program that we were in. I decided to enroll at The Institute of Technology and obtain my licensed practical nursing certificate so I can sit for the NCLEX - PN. My only problem is that this school is nationally accredited and I cannot find schools that will accept our credits from either school in order to complete and LPN to RN program. Does anyone have any ideas of schools that would accept our credits from nationally accredited schools in order to further our degree? Thank you all for your time I really appreciate everything.

I'm so sorry you find yourself in this position. A pox on the greedy unethical ITT management.

PLEASE do not make a rash decision and enroll in another unaccredited school. Slow down, look around for options. And know that many states have put together community college teams to address this issue.

Thank you so much for your speedy response, but unfortunately I have already done just that. This was badly done due to the fact that I felt like I wasted my families time, efforts, and energy. They said they wouldn't hold us financially responsible, if we choose to participate in the teachout.

kgearynotary: They lied to you. Many for-profit schools as we speak are involved in teach-outs. Many schools owned by Educational Management Corporation owners of South University, Argosy University, Brown Mackie Colleges and especially the Art Institutes are undergoing teach outs or in some instances loss of accreditation. So as one domino falls so goes the whole the financial stability of all brands involved. Good luck with this. Go to the Department of Education site or give them a call to find out what your options may be now and in the future.

The problem with many for-profits is their increasing tendency to close without notice leaving students stranded without a degree and financially screwed.

All this information is available on the net by reputable sources. The only problem is that students believe the baloney that it could never happen to them only the other guy.

I too found myself in the same situation with ITT Tech except I was in my last semester of the ADN program with a graduation date of December 1, 2016 when they decided to close their doors on Sep 6. Alot of blood, sweat, and tears to come out with nothing in the end is quite devestating. Thankfully, I was able to enroll in a community college that would give me credit for prior learning into their LPN program. I will still graduate in December but with a PN certificate instead of an associates. To make a long story short, I plan to return to school to complete my RN after completing my work hours required by for the LPN program. Good Luck to youí ½í¸Ší ½í¸Ší ½í¸Š
