@catherine:
i graduated 2008 from the philippines. it has been a couple of years since my nursing school. what i did is to read the saunders book 5th edition cover to cover. study the disc as well with nclex 4000. I used saunders and nclex 4000 for my content review. I purchased LaCharity for prioritization, nclex cram review book and nclex cram practice questions. I have read and practiced in every resources that i have.
I spend most of my time reading, practicing questions, reading and understanding the rationale. With all my study hours, i always begin it with my prayers on god's guidance.
I passed.. hope you will as well. I prepared for 3 months.

first thing is to pray for wisdom, knowledge and understand....thats #1
#2..forget that its been 2 yrs....u graduated nursing school and you POSSESS the knowledge to pass this exam......i never took hurst..i did kiaplan../..but i will say u need a review course thats more content based.....i think i heard hurst is content based...so go to that one and it wil help refresh your nursing content.
#3..buy the kaplan strategies book ...cheap on amazon and start looking at it to help u develop strategies for the nclex
#4 print out the "DETAILED" test plan of the nclex.....and see what topics they will ask.....you have to know some details about the test b4 you begin studying...and this will help you planb your study...
#5 start getting your feet wet by doing 50 questions a day initially, then move on to 100 and try to do 150 questions a day....dont do more than 150 questions a day...keep track of scores to make sure u are on the right track and to gauge your improvement...if scores are low...dont worry about it, just keep doing it to get more comfortable with answering questions.......
#6 buy the nclex 4000 CD and saunders Q and A...got mine fom amazon.com used....do the diagnostic test from nclex 4000 CD to find your weak areas and study from there. (or if any one knows any other books or CDS that has diagnostic tests ..mention it)
#7dont get overwhelmed...dont cram for nclex..ONLY thing to cram is the lab values...i find studying 3 lab values every day is less overwhelming...review the lab values u studied the day b4 and add new ones....it gave me a great deal of confidence that i was accomplishing something
#8 search for the infection ctrl mnemonics on this site and start studying it.....that too gave me a whole lot of confidence that i was accommplishing something...if you have trouble finding the infection ctrl mnemonics i will gladly post it here
#9 try to study your weak areas when u have the most energy....dont get overwhelmed with pharmacology///but do review some pharm
#10 forget its been 2 yrs...you can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
do 150 questions a day....since its been 2 yrs since graduation...i will say study for 3 mons and go take the exam

If you can't seem to formulate a study plan, just buy a review book and start with Chapter 1. Getting started is the hard part.
