Help! expired CNA certification renewal?

Published

So I earned my CNA certification in October 2012, and it expired on October 2014. I worked as a CNA at a retirement home on 2013 for a couple of months and also for home health care. I also took a Human Anatomy course on the summer of 2014. Since it is now May 2015, is it possible to use those hours and course credit to renew it? Or am I just too late and have to take the CNA training program again? Oh, and I am located in California. I have been informed (by research) that it varies by state.

I believe the retirement home and home care would have counted but my concern is your certificate expiration date. With it being Oct of 2014 I believe you might be too late because most states only have a few weeks at best to have your paperwork in to be able to renew. If that is the case then I am afraid that even though the two places you worked at would have counted towards your renewal you might be too late.

I always think it wise to renew your certificate even if at the time you are not working as a CNA. Especially if you are staying within the health care field like going to nursing school. You spend a lot of time and money getting that CNA certificate and the renewal process is so easy and painless that it's beneficial to keep it up.

Now I am afraid that if you want your CNA again bad enough you may have to go through the class and testing all over again. Sorry

Oh man... :/ that's what I get for being a procrastinator. The good thing is that I didn't pay anything! :) I was chosen by my high school health occ teacher to take a summer 1 month course for free! I really loved my job as a CNA though. Sucks that no nursing home wanted to hire me because I had no experience. :( thank you for your reply! :D
