I had to brush up on my algebra also. I bought a book called "Algebra for the Clueless". I also found some tutoring sites on the net by searching google. You can look for practice problems. It really did come back to me, even after all these years. Here are a few sites I found:

I am terrible at math and I had to take the NET test and I bought 2 books that was for nursing entrance tests and I actually scored higher on the math than I did the reading and I am terrible when it comes to fractions. There are a lot of good study guides out there to help you. Good luck!!
Which books did you buy to study for the nursing exam? I have to take the HESI in a month and I have found mixed reviews on the study books.
I bought Barron's How to Prepare for the Nursing School Entrance Exams 2nd Edition and Thomson/Peterson's Master the Nursing School and Allied Health Entrance Exams 17th Edition. There was some stuff that wasn't even on the test but the books still helped me. Good luck!!

Hi Steph
I am taking the NET test Saturday morning and I am a little nervous. Could you tell me if on the math part was there any word problems because those problems throw me off when they put them in a sentence. Also is the math just mainly fractions, decimals, ratio and percentages.
Thank you

And ratios! I have found them on every math test that I have taken in NS and on the HESI. I have never taken an entrance exam, so I do not know if they are there, but they are everywhere else.

Hi Angie,
Don't worry! I do know that's easier said than done (for me anyway). I just took the NET and it's exactly what you're thinking...fractions, decimals, ratios (just a few), and percentages. There are maybe 8 algebra problems but they are simple ones. I used the esti study guide and it was very similar to what was on the NET. Even though I'm pretty good at math, I did worry a lot about the math section. I actually found the reading part to be the most difficult. I'm not trying to add to your anxiety but I would recommend talking a look at the reading portion of the study guide as I think it would really help. It won't be near as bad as you think....trust me.
Hope this helps,

Thanks steph Im not going to worry about the math anymore because it sounds simple and I will look at the reading portion.

Check and see if your school has an adult ed dept. They were very willing to work with me FREE to brush up on stuff. They did pre-test and helped me work on areas I needed (I'm fine in Eng and Reading..for me it was the Algebra..but they would counsel you in any subject!)
