Hey! I need your help! I'm about to renew my contract in orange county, ca and need to know if it's possible to get a special overtime rate for any hours after 36hr work week?
My recruiter is saying that he is only able to give me overtime after working five 8hr shift stating that the 6th one would be where i would get the overtime. Is this true? I am contracted for 3 12hrs/shifts a week. And would like to pick up overtime but only ifni can be paid properly for it.
Thanks
Dee

You might want to research the CA OT laws.. I thought you got OT after 8hrs no matter what, out there.
The first 0-8 hr of your shift are base pay then 8-12 hr of the shift are considered OT. My question is weather or not I can get* OT for hours worked past 36hrs in a week.
My recruiter is stating that because of the Cali OT law I really wouldn't be receiving OT until I have worked five shifts (8x5=40) since the last four hours of the shift are already OT...
This is a confusing topic for me so I hope I am communicating my question clearly!
Thank you for your response :)

Questions concerning overtime can be answered by contacting the Labor Board. There used to be an extensive recording that explained a ton of labor law questions that you could listen to without even having to speak to anyone. Don't know if that recording is still available.
