i am doing a paper for college, the problem statement is, 'strategies to prevent or minimise work-related musculoskeletal injuries associated with patient handling'.
i have downloaded articles from the uk to do with moving and handling, but apart from any information that any of you can give me, i am also looking for a validated questionaire that i can use for my paper, that is, one that has already been used for a research paper. every time i get the articles that i can use, it states that they questioned nurses, but dont actually give you the questions, and i desperately need them.
thanks in advance for any new info that you can give me from your workplace.

Cariad if you can PM me the references I will see what I can do
thanks sharrie, will go back thru all the downloaded stuff that i have, the main problem is that research articles should be 5 years old and less, and all the stuff was done in the uk a long time ago.
even any up to date thinking would be interesting to me, as i have been away 4 years now and want to know how manual handling is dealt with in the uk nowadays. i know that some nurses that i know still say that they still lifted, but where i worked we used glide sheets and a swan hoist which worked for all our patients.
Cariad try some of these links for up to date stuff

Are you sure that such a questionaire exists? Just because people "questioned nurses," doesn't mean that they used a validated questionaire. They might have simply interviewed a few nurses on a less formal basis.
Students often make the mistake of assuming that the measurement tools they want for a project have already been developed. Unfortunately, that's often not the case. One of the early stages of many researchers careers is to devlop the tools they will need to measure their phenomena of interest.
If you can't find articles that discuss valid questionaires, it might be because they don't exist.

How about contacting your old manual handling advisor where you used to work Cariad?
llg---all questions used for research purposes have to be validated, and the idea of me using ones that have been used is that they have already been validated for the purpose that the article that you read in journals has been based on proven questions and answers.
you cannot just write an article, ask a few nurses and print the answers.
for the purpose of my paper i can re-use these pertinent questions, because that means that they have been validated in the research process.
rgn1, i have e-mailed back home but havent heard back, most of the stuff i can use the articles that i have, but do need the questions, which is a bummer. going to e-mail my tutor later to see if he can help.
