HELP! -- clarification of requirements for NJ application of foreign nurses

Published

good day!

im from the philippines and i just passed the 2007 NLE. i've been completing my requirements for NJ since september but i still find some things baffling. Here's my question:

The NJ application form mentioned TOEFL as a requirement. However, i read in a post from CGFNS that, "NJ-BON also requires proof that the applicant has achieved a passing score on the English Proficiency examinations required by the DHS" I searched DHS and found out that they also approve IELTS (aside from TOEFL, etc.) Therefore, is it correct for me to think that NJ-BON will accept IELTS instead of TOEFL?

I hope someone (specially those who got their NLCEX eligibility/passed the NCLEX for NJ) could help me since i have already emailed NJ-BON and CGFNS but still, to no avail. help!! :o

i guess they will. cause i have a friend who took the exam for nj and she did not take the toefl. instead, she passed her ielts.

yey! thanks! :D

guys, ive got additional questions:

1. how long will i wait for the ATT from New Jersey to arrive?

2. someone told me that i should take the NCLEX first before accomplishing the IELTS. however, my dilemma is that the CES from CGFNS also requires the english proficiency exam for the evaluation. therefore, will they complete the CES (and submit it already to NJBON) even without the IELTS?

help again! :chair:

Hi rke18

The cgfns will not issue you the ces report without passing the english exam.and you shou have the ces done and sent to the NJ board of nursing in n order to sit for nclex.

And about the time and how it will take to be authorized to sit for nclex after the Nj board recieve all the papers,I dunno and I am waiting with you to see if anyone know

CES does not require English exam but the BON does and so does the VSC. You need to arrange your English exam results to go to the BON and once you are ready for VSC will need to arrange results to go to ICHP. As I read it you do not need English exam for the BON to give ATT but before they issue you with a license you need pass in English and criminal background check. Depending on how long CES takes would then add a couple months ontop for BON to give OK to sit exam, this is a rough estimate as no telling how long CGFNS will take but probably looking at 4 months ish

At a rough guess would say you are looking at a couple months. Depends on how high the demand is with the BON. I would just concentrate on studying whilst you are waiting

it seems that your really in a hurry and gasping to have all the papers done in a single time. wait for you time. you will know that your approve becaus they will contact you and besides your not just the whom they process a lot of you. please take it slowly your still fresh grad and the resent retrogression, so theres no reason for you to expedite this. goodluck

Thx dave and silver

I am not in rush at all and i am not new grad.

I am here in tourist visa and i will be happy if i did the nclex before my visa expire that's why i am asking.

I am giving them all the time for that and believe i am soo cool and patient.

Thx guys

well, actually in my case, im a bit in a hurry. :uhoh3: im a june 2007 passer and i think i have been wasting a lot of my time already because of the long wait for the results and all...i hate being idle for a very long time. *sigh* i also feel pressured since i feel that ive already been left behind by my classmates. :sniff:

could you guys give me an advice on what to do? im one really confused kid. ayayay. apart from this NCLEX thing, i have also been contemplating on applying to phil. hospitals already (like PHC st. lukes and UST) since i heard that hosp also have loooonng processing time (especially in PHC). do you think it's a good idea to do so or should i just wait for the NJ eligibility and apply after that. gosh..i really dont know what to do first. :banghead:

take it slowly, right time will come your just putting stress to yurself.
