Hello Everyone,
I recently graduated in April with my BSN in California. I have received a letter for the BSN stating that my application will require additional processing time due to my previous discipline. I have a juvenile felony from 10 years ago that has been sealed. During middle school I got brutally beat up for being a nerd, I then carried a switch army knife in my backpack for protection and it got discovered by a teacher which gave me the felony on my record. I also have one point of my record for having two speeding tickets between an 18 month period.
I am very worried!! I hope I get approved, I will be devastated because I have came this far! What do you think? Or What would you do in my position?

I think your post should be moved to the Criminal History forum. It would help elicit a better response.
What I do know from that forum is that the BON goes through a case by case basis with these matters.
I hope your post gets moved.
Best wishes.

If the BRN's letter stated what the issues was, then I'd look at that. Don't automatically assume that they can even "see" the juvenile record. Being that it's sealed, 10 years ago, while you were a minor, and you probably weren't tried in Superior Court as an adult, they may actually be keying on the driving history that resulted in 1 point on your record from the 2 speeding tickets.
Being that you were likely in Nursing School at the time you got both speeding tickets, you probably had been warned several times not to add to the list of things the BRN is going to have to consider... like speeding. One ticket is probably not a big deal. Two tickets in a relatively short time could mean that you didn't change your ways and may not be inclined to follow the rules/regulations/laws. See where I'm going with this?
Good luck, and I hope you eventually do get your ATT and can become an RN.
They are unable to "see" my juvenile record but I still disclosed it even thought I was charged as a juvenile, just to keep things as purely honest as possible. Well I actually got one speeding ticket when I was 19 before I started the program. And the other I got once I graduated the program, this was after submitting my application. Idk where I stand now?? Thank you, I hope so.
