HELP!! CA pediatric 15 CEU for new grad?

Published

Hey everyone!

I was hoping for some help. I am a new grad LVN, still waiting for my NCLEX results. I really, REALLY want to work at a pediatric sub acute facility and there's one that I think I have a pretty good chance of getting hired at (I did my clinicals there). I was told, however, that I either need 1) 6 months experience in pediatric facility as a CNA, or 2) 15 CEU's on "how to care for a compromised pediatric patient."

I was told this is a new BON requirement for new grad pediatric nurses. My problem is finding the RIGHT type of class! I was told a PALS certification wouldn't count...

I was wondering if anyone out there has heard of this, and knows which classes to take. I'd be willing to pay for classes, but free is nice also. I just feel if they don't take PALS then what exactly are they looking for? Is there a list on BON website somewhere that I just can't find?

Any ideas? PLEASE?

Sounds as if this is their own requirement. Never heard of it. Western Schools has some good peds CEU courses. I suggest that you go to their website and look at them. I don't know how you are going to meet this requirement otherwise, and it baffles me that they do not accept PALS.

I would take PALS anyway as well as ACLS. PEARS as well. You really need to know those anyway for the field you are interested in. Google them.

I've used this link to find classes from AHA
