Hello!
I recently graduated from university and am looking into nursing programs. I am very much interested in the nursing program at BMCC. However, I have a lot of concerns and questions. I hope you guys would be able to help me.
I didn't do so well in university and my overall GPA was a 2.9. I was wondering if the nursing program looks at the GPA that you got from university or do they base the GPA on all the pre-reqs (PSY 100, MAT 104, BIO 425, ENG 101)? So say, you got all As in your pre-reqs, does that mean you would have a 4.0 GPA?
How about CHE 121? Is CHE 121 necessary? I took CHE 121 at my university and got a C+ and I was planning to retake it at BMCC this summer if I need it.
How about the KAT (Kaplan Admission Test)? How did you guys prepare for it? Did any particular test prep books/online tools help you prepare for it?

They look at the pre-req GPA and the GPA of any remaining classes relevant to the nursing program.
You won't need to retake CHE 121.
Purchase an ACT/SAT book and take reading/grammar/english ACT quizzes online.
Brush up on prealgebra math (fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio/proportions).
You should take both A&P 1 and 2 prior to taking the Kaplan as the body systems in A&P2 are covered on the test (just physiology as there is NO anatomy).
Hey!
Thanks for asking my questions ^_^ I really appreciate it.
I realized that the program is for a associate nursing degree.. My biggest fear is not being able to get a job right after the program. If you don't mind me asking, how was job hunting for you/what do you do now and where/what do you recommend me to do to be a better candidate, besides volunteering, when applying for jobs?
Sorry for the late response, but I am pre-nursing at BMCC. Hopefully, someone with more knowledge will be able to assist you.
