I worked in home health as an aide, but I am working in the OR as a RN (new grad) ;)

Hi everyone

I am a graduate nurse (12/03) and a recent transplant to delaware. is it just me or are interviews difficult to come by up here?

I'm not really worried about it- I have a job offer. It just seems like I sent my resume to every hospital in DE and I only got 2 interviews. I'm sitting here thinking 'nursing shortage my #@$'. You would think if things were really that bad hospitals would be clammoring for nurses.

Auri, just wondering, where did you apply? I work at Christiana Care-wilmington campus in the OR (perioperative internship).

Christine

A lot of my classmates had the same problem. There aren't many ads in the paper either. I guess there is no nursing shortage in Delaware. I know a lot of the hositals want 1 year of med-surg before they will hire anyone. Good luck with your job hunt! :)

:balloons: Just popped in to welcome all the new members living in Delaware!

I visited Delaware a few times, and my favorite spot to go is Rehobeth Beach! If you are new in Delaware be sure to check it out. It's beautiful there! :)

Cmon where is everyone from DE?!

Just wanted to say hi. Graduated in June and took some time off...

Worked on a Tele floor for a couple months and just started an internship program (critical care).

:)

HI, I am new to this group. I live in Old New Castle and graduated from nursing school in 1978. Never worked at Christiana Care but Riverside Hospital, St. Francis, Crozer, and the state hospital (twice). Fortunately for me I am teaching online full time so I am a happy nurse.

hi everyone. i'm a delaware native been here my whole life. spent 20 yrs as a new castle county paramedic then went to nursing school.

auri: i graduated in 2002 and i must say that the interviews were not hard to come by at all. i got one with every hospital in ncc and two with christiana care. i finally took an er postition with union hospital just across the maryland line. i know for a fact that we are hiring, come on down. md is a compact state so your de rn lic is accepted there. good luck!
