What is your normal procedure for screening hearing/vision? Do you try and do everyone in the same day or do you split it up? I have finished with my 5th graders, whom I screened a homeroom at a time, during their library day. I attempted to screen my 7th graders today, using the multi-purpose room but could not keep them quiet enough and ended up ending the screening early. I will be screening them in the library starting next week. I just wondered what you all do? :nurse:

I set up "shop" with a small desk right outside the classroom and pull the kids out of their classroom two or three at a time to do vision screenings. It works really well with kindergarten, 2nd and 4th, but gets more complicated with the 6th grade because of their schedules.

I have experimented with various schedules. This year I am doing K-5 during their PE time (45 minutes every other day), and I have allotted two PE classes for each class. So, I might do one 1st grade class on M and W and another on Tu and Th. I use the PE coach's office, which is still a little noisy with all the action going on in PE, but so far the hearing results have not been affected.

For my PK, I think I am going to bring all my stuff to their classroom and set up in a corner, or right outside the room like Allie911 (great idea, BTW).

I love hearing how everyone does things, we can learn so much this way!

For ht/wt/vision, I am only allowed to pull kids from PE, so I do my best to get them from there. 1/2 of our kids have PE first semester and 1/2 the second semester, so it takes me all year. Hearing screening is still done in 1 day (11th grade is all I have to do) The speech therapists come in and help so we can get the whole class done in a couple hours.
