This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.

It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. Hi Tweety,

Glad that you hope others join . . . I want to join.

I noticed that I am not the only one wanting to loose weight. Would anyone mind being an accountability partner with me? No pressure. I need to loose weight slowly. Preferrably over the next year.

I would like to drop about 30-40lbs. Right now, my biggest problem is eating the wrong foods. I am not trying to diet per se. I am just trying to change my dietary lifestyle. (Small problem with Starbucks self medication. Well . . . okay . . . it's a BIG problem with the Starbucks issue.):uhoh21:

My only request is that whoever wouldn't mind joining me wouldn't mind putting up with someone who has a goofball personality, major depression, and likes God. These are the things that make me who I am.

Forewarning: I do have days when the only neuron functioning in my brain is reaching out to receive neurotransmitters from black jack tree branches. So far no termites as neurotransmitters.:lol2:

You're funny! And so like me lol

Welcome to the thread, please keep us posted!

BTW, is the Starbucks just the coffee, or the, er, sidebars?

Hi Zoeboboey ,

Ahhhhhh, yes, the . . . the . . . THE SIDEBARS  ! Okay, whew, I said it.

Alas, indeed I have consumed entirely too many sidebars. I have been so pathetic that I am already wondering whether the happy sunshine cupcakes will be available for this spring.:smackingf And why!!!!! For goodness sakes, my thighs have more lumps, bumps and rolls than the 2 local area motorcross tracks :uhoh21: . So as you can imagine this is not a pretty situation.

On the other hand, I am trying to walk 3-5 times per week. Our neighborhood is situated on the side of a hill, soooooo, I walk downhill first then uphill last. My cool down period is walking back downhill to get to our home. The entire trip is a little over 1.5 miles and it really helps with my depression.

The food issue is going to be an ongoing issue for me, which is okay. I am not anorexic nor bulemic. I am not 100lbs over weight at this time and am trying to prevent this from happening.

Soooo, Zoe and everyone else, on with my current log. Yesterday, after work I went for a walk. Today, I was tooo tired; but ate better. (This time for lunch I had a Del Taco salad  . (yeah, this is going to be a challenge:uhoh3: , but that's okay.)

I will probably move my exercise success and failures to a journal here on all nurses. I think that may be more appropriate.

Best wishes to everyone on their varying journies to a more healthy and well balanced lifestyle.

Hello everyone! I thought I might join this thread, since I recently joined Weight Watchers to try and shift some excess weight - mostly because my skin has been playing up, and my depression has been terrible this year. I'm on the antidepressants now and finding it easier to get out of bed, so thought it was time to get my food and exercise into shape.

I had a good first week - I lost 2kg (4.4lbs)... it's a start.

Hi and welcome gentle & augigi!!!

Gentle, the walking is such a wonderful thing! I've taken to wearing a pedometer (sp?) to keep track of my steps and that is definitely helping me get in more exercise - yeay!

Augigi, congrats on the weight loss, that is teriffic!!!

Well guys, I seem to be yo-yoing day to day over here. I think I need to focus on the goal I had last Christmas which was not to get rid of excess weight, but not to gain any weight either and then start working on really getting back into shape starting in January! That worked well for me before, so I'm thinking I should go with that again. Today we had donuts for breakfast . . . AAAAARGH!!! Skipped lunch, but going to an ornament exchange this evening where there are supposed to be finger foods - I will be good and stick by the veggie-style finger foods rather than the sweet stuff.

Zoe - this weekend was definitely fun - busy and crazy, but fun, and you're right, it really did help!!! :)

Ahh, confession is good for the soul... :D

You aren't alone either!

Glad to see you up and moving, even moving while seated is better than nothing.

Welcome!! I have thought about the weight watchers, I've done FA and OA - (food addicts anon., overeaters anon., based on the aa 12 steps). I can do fine for a while but as soon as I get binging on the sweets and stuff I am lost - anyway - glad you're here and please let us know how you're doing!

hey hunny, I'm glad you had fun!

I kept myself busy today, a visit with a lady from church at the nursing home, and went over to tour a radio station that I like (that was FUN!) - so I wasn't into the "stash". Oh and also bought a new blouse - kind of a reward :)

Take care, enjoy yourself!

SFSG, Sarah, it's nice!

It was about a year ago that things were really awful for me, if you recall :( but -

Phillipians 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

In other words, I'm getting there (ha ha). It doesn't mean I don't learn from the hard times - but it means I don't have to take a bath in them every Saturday night... lol

Sounds like you'd fit in very well. I hope you stick around and tell us what you're doing!

I'm not eating a good diet right now. I'm probably going to do like I did last year and go on a serious diet Dec. 26th. I can try to eat healthier between now and then, but it's too hard to committ.

Good luck and please keep in touch often. It helps to know others are in the same struggle.

LOL Zoe - you have such a great outlook. I do remember how hard things were going for you and I am so happy that things are moving in a better direction for you. It seems that our parents are right (sigh) . . . life is full of ups and downs and it takes quite a bit to get through the downs, but the ups are so worth it!

Tweety, when I read your post, I thought I was accidentally reading mine - my sentiments exactly, just keep going through the holiday and then worry about fixing the body. Probably not the best move, but better than giving up alltogether.

I seem to have lost so much of my motivation and I don't know why, I did great for so long, so I'm not quite sure what the deal is. Phooey!

Gentle & Augigi, have a great day, hope to hear from both of you lots!!!

Well guys, another test tonight - so off to study in between clients today! Have a good one!
