Healthier Living Support - Part III

Published

Greetings. Deb is going to put a sticky on this thread and eventually delete the other.

This is the thread where members come to share their journey to wellness and wholeness.

It's a holistic thread, talking about all apects of health, not just diet and exercise, but the mind and spirit as well. All posters are welcome (not just Premium Members) and encouraged on a periodic basis to share what you're doing, what you need to do and how you're going to do it, and what you know!

O.K., so I was a big fat lazy pig yesterday and loved it.

Today it's back to taking care of myself through healthy diet and exercise!!! I'm not waiting until December 26th like last year. :)

I'm doing o.k. There's sweets and treats around the unit that family members bring in, but hopefully that will slow down and the temptation will be removed.

We had a work party for Thanksgiving, just turkey, pasta and green salad, bread, one dessert... no big "donations" of no-no's. One customer of mine right after my "no sugar/flour" pledge made good on her promise to bring me (PERSONALLY!) pumpkin bread. She gave me the equivalent of two loaves! Fortunately I know a big family that can ALWAYS use food for the table so I regretfully (sniff) gave it to them.

So the point being - I was at work yesterday and my efforts are already paying off, a customer noticed I have lost some weight, YEE HAW! I won't weigh myself til Dec 1 but it was cool to hear that ... :balloons:

That's awesome Zoe.

I'm going to have to take a "no sugar" plege. I ate too much candy at from the "we know you're short staffed here's some candy" pile at work.

My blood pressure at work was 117/77!!!! That is awesome for me. My last several reading the past few weeks have been in the 120/70-80 range. This after having readings above 140/90 during the summer. Wondering if dumping my husband helped. LOL

I remember a few years ago going to see a back doctor. He said, "You need to lose about 200 lb."

Yep, he was referring to that guy I called my husband. And the next time I saw the doc I said, "Yep, that weight loss program helped, and my back is MUCH better!"

Hey guys! I'm never good about sticking with this thread :( I always fall off the wagon it seems.

Anyway, I need to do something different though and I need to quit saying I need to do it!

This is all about eating healthy and exercising right? I need to do that. I need to be more mentally healthy too and change some stuff.

Hey guys! Sorry about the absence, after the procedure I stayed at home and lazed around on the couch with my kids. It was actually very good. Thanks so much for all the support!

Zoe, the procedure had very minimal pain for me, about a day of true cramping, which was almost completely alleviated with percocet (sp?) and then I haven't needed anything after that. I feel so much better now and even my friends said my color is better - so yeay!

Now I have to work on that diet part. I did pretty good up until T-day, naturally. I had veggies for breakfast and am eating a turkey-breast sandwich for lunch, so we shall see. We had roast for supper last night with veggies - nothing fried or yucky (except the red meat, but I just can't give that up). Hopefully I can keep it up.

LOL you guys - I like it "The Zoe & Tweety Show". Hehe. Now you can add in the catchy subtitle . . . "A day with Rain". :D You can even use me in there - sure - sddlnscp can be in the balloon above somebody's head when they are really angry, you know, in place of *%@!!!

Ok, obviously I would not make a good producer. :p

Hi RainDreamer

It's for whatever areas you need support in good health - IMHO that includes the big 4: mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical. But often I will focus on the physical cuz that seems to be what "the world" looks at - how you look on the outside... sigh... hard not to fall into that trap.

I need to just focus on having a HEALTHY well functioning body, mind and spirit. Sure did feel good to have 2 people already mention that I've lost wt. though... :)

That's great about the weight loss! I'm sure it does feel good.

For me, I think if I get healthy physically it will help me to feel better emotionally, you know? I'm not terribly overweight .... I could stand to lose 20 pounds or so. But I want to FEEL better. I want to be more active and not get all winded while hiking the mountains. I think I'd feel better about myself.

I just went through a few weeks where I had some major self exploration and insight. I thought I might be pregnant and after all the fear of that wore off it got me to think about a lot of things. I'd love to have kids some day, but I'm not married right now and I'm not in a physical or emotional state for bringing kids into the world at this point. I need to get healthy physically and emotionally ...... take charge of my own life.

It's so hard to get started, I don't even know where to start.
