Any HWCs for Brookdale out there? (NOT HW Director)
Began as HWC about 4 months ago, and all of a sudden am being asked to take on tasks that were not discussed as eventual tasks to be added during interviews. Have been working mostly with med management, physician orders, teaching with caregivers, communicating with families, helping out where ever (dining room, activities) Now I am being told I am to take on caregiver scheduling, and on call 24/7 rotating with 2 others.
Are these last 2 typical tasks for HW co-ordinators? What other things are you expected to do? Am thinkingif more duties required, more compensation is appropriate.

I worked for two other assisted-living communities in the past as the director of nursing or health and wellness director whatever you want to call it. I had to do all the interviewing, hiring firing disciplinary actions schedules call offs, and I was on- call 24 hours a day seven days a week answering calls all night. Not to mention handling all the assessments, medical paperwork and even sales with doing tours. You name it, I did it and it was all part of the job. MOD rotation as well. That is why I have taken a break from management.

Yes, those are definite duties for a HWD at Brookdale. Along with MOD rotation, and assisting with marketing.
