Hi all!

Back in the saddle here again! Taking a semester break from school so I can get a few things organized in my life. (Was over committed...).

I'm back to the low carb thing too. Plenty of veggies, a few fruits, just no bread/rice/pasta, etc. I always feel better when I do this, so it should be a clue to me this is what my body prefers. I just loooooovvvvveee the breads, unfortunately! Down 3 lbs, 15 to go if I get to my goal.

Biking on days I don't mow the lawn (pushing the electric mower, 1/2 of it is up a gentle slope.)

Hope all are well!!!

Yay blue! Yeah, my body does better with the low-carb thing too, but I am like you and have a weakness, lol! Anyway, so far today I've eaten veggies & some meat & cheese, yay! I did have one cinnamon-biscuit for breakfast, but it was small so hopefully it won't totally do me in, lol! Anyway, going to eat a big salad for supper & have some fluids & exercise, yay!!!!!!!

Hope everybody is having a productive day, I start my preceptorship on Friday and I cannot wait! :D WooHoo!!!

Have a great rest of the week & weekend y'all, I will be gone quite a bit in August but will try to catch everybody somewhere in-between!

Sarah, I think you're safe with the small cinnamon biscuit ;). Sounds like a healthy day for you. Pretty soon your sig will have RN in stead of student nurse :D.

Hey, Blue. Nice to see you :). It's gotta feel great to take some time off from school. I'm going back for an RN-BSN bridge later this month. I'm not looking forward to it, but it'll be good to do. That's what I keep telling myself anyway...

I did atkins a few years ago and lost about 40lbs. Then found out that approach may not have been the best. Since then I gained that 40 plus more(during nursing school). I picked up Low-Carb dieting for Dummies and have been looking through that. I think I am going to give it a try.

Never heard of that! Will have to check it out!

Thank you. The basics is that you get to eat 5 carb choices a day( each is aprox 15carb), you have a list of green light foods that you can eat all you want, and then you get 2-3 servings of dairy a day (even if they have carbs you don't count them in your 5 carb servings you use a dairy serving). I like it because I can eat what I want I just have to watch what it is, keeps me in check with portions. I'm planning on starting tomorrow.

p.s I got my book off ebay for less than $3 with shipping it was around $6.

Good luck to everyone trying to loose weight. I'm with ya.....but can't do the low carb thing.

I bought some four cans of Slim Fast and am just going to drink those for lunch the next four days and skip all junk food and portion control my dinner and snacks. I'll see how that goes. I was going to the health food store for a healthy vegan meal replacement, but slim fast while not vegan was about $50 cheaper. I can only do meal replacements for a couple of days anyway.

Hey, I have a carton of Slim Fast in my fridge . ... want me to send it to you? :D

My problem with the Slim Fast is that I still ate too much spaghetti at dinner.

Low carb is sorta like legalism . . .it keeps you in a safe little box. :saint::D

I must keep away from pasta . . . It is my downfall.

So, I've lost 6 pounds. I know - deja vu from last year.

If only the weight stayed off. :bluecry1:

I too can't do the slim fast I tried but was still way to hungry. Even having a side salad with ff dressing. I'm not going all low carb I can have a huge list of green light foods, including just about all fruits( except bananas) and non starchy veggies. I do not have to count any of those in my ccarb choices. I found this way easier to do than when I was Atkins I even tried the South Beach Diet but just couln't do it. Good luck to everyone in thier endeavor.

Took the kids to the pool this afternoon for some exercise, my four year old threw diving fish and sticks to the middle of the pool then my daughter and I swam to get them, the 1st person back to the stairs won. It was very good cardio....lol
