Hey, y'all. Angie, last time I made meat loaf I put shredded potatoes in it (not a whole lot, just some I had left over from something else) and that turned out pretty good. BBQ sounds good, too . . .

Sarah, I forgot to mention this earlier, but I'm pleased as punch for you for losing twenty pounds. That's a hecka lot of weight! Good girl. I know that took a huge effort. Way to go :) I'm very proud of you.

I'm really struggling with eating junk :( I was doing pretty well for a while, then I've fallen way off the wagon. I guess I need to let go of the all or nothing mentality I seem to be dwelling on. Anyway, I'm proud of the rest of you for doing so well. Keep it up!

I'm doing better all the time - but I think my body is detoxing! been sick (again! Was sick 2 wks ago I think!) chills, horrible body aches, had some apnea tonite! (!!!) and sinus sx - as Eeyore would say, "oh bother!"

Hiker, I know the feeling. I struggle with junk as well. Last week I was very lazy and ate a lot of crap. Yesterday I ate very well and my stomach is in an uproar today. Guess my body likes junk better. LOL

Mornin Tweety :)

You still happy about the job change? How has that affected your stress level? I know you weren't all that fond of charge - but I suppose when the anxiety of not WONDERING if you have charge might help - and getting into the swing ...

Blue, I realize it's late, but condolences on the loss of your friend.

Sarah, belated congratulations on your 20- pound loss! Wonderful!

ER, glad you have an assignment closer to home.

Did you try to quote a post yet? Play with it a little bit, once you get it, it seems easy.

Tweety, the low-fat gravy is good news. I'm going to go ahead and try that recipe next time.

It'll be the lean turkey breast mixed with some whole cranberries (or part of a can of the whole berry cranberry sauce) and Stove Top stuffing (made up using the chicken broth for flavor) and a couple of eggs. I will then baste a time or two with the chicken broth and make a little gravy with cornstarch, a touch of sage, and white pepper. Next time I'll also have to remember to give the pan a little spray of the Pam Olive oil, as it stuck a little bit.

Stay tuned for results!

As to the BBQ sauce in it, yeah, that sounds great! DH loves BBQ.

Hiker, Shredded potatoes sounds interesting too. Thanks for sharing. We've decided that if we must eat any junk, it should be the diet stuff. WW desserts are so rich! Then there's always the sugar-free Jello topped with some Free Cool Whip for a small snack that's very low on calories. It does help. However, we decided to stay away from the sugar-free candies. Very deceptive little things; three pieces can have up to 200 calories!

Zoe, I have the same kind of reaction when I change something drastically. Hope you're feeling better soon.

We're still on track, pretty much. I've lost enough so that it's time for me to start cutting my portions a bit. I think when I started I was eating about 3500 cals a day, now I'm down to about 2500, so now it might be time to drop a bit lower, maybe to 2000. Not actually counting calories here, but I've dieted enough to be able to estimate, so that's working in my favor now.

This is why I'm always so shocked when we get a 350-lb. patient at work and they're immediately put on a 1500 cal/day diet. Wouldn't that trigger the starvation mechanism? Oh well, just a thought. I personally think that it's a tad too drastic for that weight. They may be thinking that they're giving him healthier choices, but isn't it really teaching him to crash diet (even if it's on "good" foods?)

Everyone, Happy Monday and have a great week!

Muffie, you're so inspiring, I'm going to explain your little "Wake up Neo" icon. Ever see Matrix? The first communication that Neo had with the resistance was over his computer. They wrote "wake up Neo" -- which meant that he was not living in the real world as he supposed. That ties in with what we are learning here by munching and crunching and treating our bodies like a temple, and trying to live in a healthy way. We see the big picture now and how our eating affects every aspect of our lives as well as every aspect of our future. The question then becomes:

Do we choose the Red pill or the Blue pill? ;)

thanks angie

Hey Blue, how are your veins doing? That works pretty well, huh? That is awesome!

Hi ERtravel - sounds like you are doing well with your exercise buddy, I love it!

Hiker - I am excited to bits about the OB clinicals - we got cancelled this morning because of low census, but on the plus side, I think they're going to try to get us into Memorial in the Springs since they're not having enough at the local hospital - WooHoo!!! I can't wait!!! Good luck with the eating - I tend to be that way too, just gotta get back on that horse - you can do it!

Thanks Zoe!!! I hope they like me - I try. :)

Angie - I hope future attempts with the turkey meatloaf proove more effective, it actually sounds pretty good!

Tweety - hey, good to see you!!! I am finally on the opposite swing where as long as I'm eating good, my tummy is happy and if I eat any junk, I know about it - so that is a definite plus for me - yeay!

Ok, I am missing people - who am I missing? Well, those of you that I am missing, my appologies! Hope you all are doing wonderful!!!

I have exercised like mad this weekend - yeay! I also got to go pick up my friend who had back surgery yesterday, so that was a perfect mother's day treat, she is home now and I'm helping her a lot, which is nice. It's also nice to have the confidence to help her with some very basic things that she can't do on her own and it makes her feel secure that I am around, so I feel really great about that. I think she is going to try to get home health to come help her out, so that will be good. :)

I'm outta here tomorrow - clinicals, so I'll cyber-see y'all on Wednesday! Have a great one!

YAY Sarah!

Zoe, I'm liking my charge nurse position well enough. I miss the students and the one-on-one with patients, but it's not too horrible.

I wasn't happy with my weight today at the gym. But I was good. No junk food. I made a stir fry using veggie broth instead of oil.

Tweety - good for you, I'll bet you make an awesome charge! Oooh - and thanks! No junk food sounds good. :) WooHoo!

WOW! I don't think I have ever seen you have such a big post! It's usually a few quick bites and you're off!

I think of you every time I pick up a carrot!

;)

(oops, it didn't post the quote from Muffie - This one's for you, Muff!)
