I'm supposed to do a teaching brochure on Health Promotion for a fictional pt going home after a severe episode of acute pancreatitis. It should be easy, but... i'm really not sure what to cover under health promotion!! What do you think? Just generally being healthy? S/s of a repeat episode to watch for? What to do when she first gets home to ease back into normal life? Safety? Comorbidities?? I would think a little bit of everything, but various other students are covering nutrition, medications, s/s, and hyperlipidemia. I guess I just really don't know where to begin with this. It's SUCH a broad topic. Ergh. Please help!

i suggest that you go to several of the online consumer health information sites and look at what they have to say about this subject as a starting point to give you some ideas on how to organize this project. a good sampling of them are listed on this thread:

what would contribute to her illness (alcohol?)
what other illnesses might be similar and how would she tell the difference?
When do you call the doctor?
Are there any special community resources available?
