Good morning,
I have been a school health aide for the last 3 years. I work for a school Tk-5 grade. I was wondering how does one come up with a health policy or polices to run the school (health related) Also any suggestions on reports that need to be done, exams etc. Thank you !

Your school has NO student health policies?

Remember that there are state regulations that already exist and must be followed. You can use those as a starting point for writing policies. There may be local/district regulations that apply to your school as well. Just don't try to "reinvent the wheel" in cases where you don't have to...

Check in the other nurse's in your area. They may be able to send you their policies to use as a starting point. Every state, county, district will have different guidelines, so keep those in mind too!

We follow state guidelines. As far as policies, we are not asked and our input is not welcomed. School board writes all policies. Even that $&@* no nit lice policy.

Unfortunately our state guidelines basically say, "Exercise caution. It's up to you."
We are not associated with any districts we are under our county, but as far as policies we dont have anything in writing, i do follow state regulations as far as vision/ hearing requirements, immunization reports etc. Do you guys have sample forms of how health policy should look like.
