Health assessment class

Published

Hi there, Is there anybody who is taking health assessment currently ? I am now taking the health assessment on my third year in Taiwan. We as students are told by the professor that we are going to pair up to practice breast examination ( BSE ) without clothes on. I mean wear nothing on the top in the Lab room. Is this common in your health assessment class ? I really want to know how you guys normally do. Just be honest, I don't feel comfortable to get naked in the classroom. The whole thing is just so weird.

In my health assessment class we did practice on each other and did strip down to undergarments with a hospital gown over them. However it wasn't in front of the whole class. The lab room beds had curtains around them (just as a shared hospital room would) for privacy.

We never practiced breast exams or otherwise exposed ourselves. While practicing heart/lung assessments, we were split into same-sex groups and worked behind the hospital privacy type curtains installed in our skills lab. We were allowed to wear a sports bra or tank top to protect our modesty. I personally would not be comfortable with anyone seeing my breasts for any reason other than for my healthcare. Lactation consultant or OB provider = okay. Student = not so much.

Just started health Assessment. We were told we'd be wearing sport bras and shorts sometimes soon to practice on each other. We did vital signs last week and some of us who were wearing long sleeves shirts had to remove our shirts halfway. Our teachers told us to start getting comfortable being in each other's personal space.
