Heads up for anyone planning on Excelsior

It's the time of year when salesmen know we make resolutions etc. set goals, and get motivated to work on them.

Periodically a sales person for one of the publishers like RUE, Moore, Chanchelor, Istudysmart (which is a web site for Moore or Rue I forgot which) etc. pose as students on this board to lure you to thier site and sign up.

Please, be warry. It has happened many many time on this board. They play all inocent when caught but in the mean time someone of us can get caught in thier net.

I am not saying don't use a publisher. God knows I did for 2 exams. Lucky I refused up front to sign a contract and told them I wanted to try them out. It wasn't bad but I figured out after 2 exam that I did not need them and saved a bundle by just using my nursing books and the library. I still got A's and it did not take any longer to study.

The problem I have is these companies are often unscruplous in their marketing practices. One student on this board was threatened by one of these publishers for selling an unused and unopened study guide that he purchased from them.

Take care. I always recomend going and getting the study guides from excelsior, they are getting better and better all the time.

I got a study system through Rue...I didn't score as well as I did on the exam that I did without using their study guide.

That was nine years ago...LOL. I am starting 100% over with Excelsior...hope I can get motivated this time...:-(

Curious..... what do you mean your starting over ? Have you taken the NCLEX? Did you only take 1 test then stopped? Okay I am moving on to the next thread now I am becoming noisey LOL. Good luck to you!

I took two tests, had two babies, moved three times...I finally have my act together and am going to go for it again. :)

I paid for a bunch of study systems throguh Rue and only got a few of them. I e-mailed them today to tell them I want the rest of them in one lump shipment. They say you can only have one or two at at time, but I'm tired of piddling around...:)

Is this a new practice of theirs or is it because students are selling there materials to other students? Just Curious.... Good Luck!

Secondly, Cotjockey--- high-5 baby for jumpin' in again! Sorry you're having trouble with RUE. My prediction is that you will piddle piddle piddle with those doofs. I went through the same thing as you are going through.

Some advice---- if you ever fax in your request for them to send you your next study system, CALL THEM TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY GOT THE FAX, and DOCUMENT THE DATE, TIME, AND THE PERSON'S NAME WHO SAYS "YES, WE GOT YOUR FAX". Trust me on this one. And hang in there---- drive around those road blocks (one being RUE) and keep on truckin'. You'll do it this time because you're ready to.
