HCC Spring 2017 Nursing Program

Published

Anyone out there know if they are applying for the 2017 Nursing program for HCC (Hillsborough Community College)? I am! Just realized I want to do this so I'm taking A&P 1 and 2, microbiology, and sociology this summer. Apparently its called the crazy train! Anyone else doing something similar?

Does anyone think the ITT Tech closing is going to affect our admissions for Spring?

What does ITT tech gave to do with us

Shutting down a program sends applicants elsewhere to apply. Hence, a potential increase in applicants.

I read somewhere that HCC was going to help the ITT Tech students. If they help the nursing students then some spots could be filled with those students rather than those of us who applied in August.

Doubt that would happen . we worked for our GPA and teas score, that wouldn't be fair . if they have a decent GPA and the teas score needed and they applied before the deadline than go ahead other than that they shouldn't be allowed in "just because ".

Hi, it's a really long thread, and I have an exam tomorrow (not for pre-reqs, but for public health at USF), so I'm going to start at the end and work back part way.

I'm applying for the Spring semester at HCC, and I am so anxious to hear back from them. It seems to take SO LONG!! I daren't say I will get in, because I thought for sure I would get into USF, and I didn't. I royally screwed up my interview. I am hoping to attend Dale Mabry during the day. I have four kids, and I NEED to go to school while they are at school.

What's your GPA ? We did a GPA pool

The wait is killing me I swear I just hope they have low applicants atleast for all of us to get in first Jeez... In like ready for the wait to b over now!

This makes me crazy nervous!

I knoooooow! As we get closer to October I feel more nervous!

As for ITT, I would think they'd be treated as transfers and not necessarily NP1, which is what we will hopefully be in the spring. Since they just closed recently as well, I'd doubt they'd accept new applicants at this point, but who knows. Just speculation on my part.

Hang in there y'all. ... we're almost there!

HCC transfer policy is one semester only, otherwise you would be treated as a new applicant. They would not be able to legally transfer ITT students this cycle without having them apply like we did, that would be a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I feel bad for those students though, that is really messed up how they were treated. The way everything happened just seemed fishy to me. I know that school got a huge amount of money from veteran's every year.

We are almost there and it's nerve racking. I should have taken classes to have something else to focus on. I would love to know the actual number of applicants from spring versus previous years. It just gets scary when they keep saying so many people have applied. Every other thread I read up to this point said spring was always a smaller group of applicants than fall.

Couple more weeks, I will be a nut job at the end of the month.

I was just reading up about the ITT closing. So tragic, I would be so pissed off.

They basically closed because of misuse of funds and received a show cause notice. When they submitted the show cause more infractions in regards to accreditation came up and they identified that a majority of them couldn't be fixed. Most of those students credits are not even going to transfer to other schools.

If you know anyone from ITT that needs help the Department of education has some great resources. If they have federal loans they can request a Closed School Loan Discharge that would essentially void there loan. Please spread the word if you can.
