HCC Coleman LVN Fall 2016

Published

Hello, I was wondering if anyone was accepted into the program? I was accepted, but they only gave about a week and a half to get everything together and it's stressing me out since the papers they e-mailed are quite vague in what they want.

Any help?

You should have been prepared in advance. A week and a half is plenty of time. Copies of driver's license, SS card, etc. If they want transcripts, you should have thought of that. A copy of your unofficial would suffice while waiting for official. Don't stress but out.

Lol, all due respect, I've already had that. I turned in my application and waited a little over a month for a response. HCC Coleman has been under fire for their ADN program, so I suppose things are a little messy right now. I'm speaking in terms of CPR, Background check, drug testing, physical exam. They barely released that information and in such a short notice. I still can't get a background check until identogo.com recognizes me through HCC, and that could take a while, so I am a bit stressed considering that the deadline is soon.

Most of the things you mentioned are taken care of by the school. CPR for example. It sounds like your school is having you do their job.

BTW, if you can get into an RN program, skip LVN.

Yup, my point exactly. >.> I had already missed the deadline for the ADN program at another school, but it's quite far. And I didn't have all my prereqs done yet, so I figure take the LVN, then do the bridge program, and be on my merry way.

I think disorganization is part of nursing schools! lol I remember with mine, I couldn't 'schedule' my drug test, I basically had a 7 hour window to go get it done when they said 'go'. I guess that was for the random aspect. They can't expect you do go get your background check before they have you in the system.

I've always heard Coleman was a good program- what's going on with them right now? (you mentioned ADN program issues?)

As far as CPR goes- GO GET IT NOW. You don't have to wait for the school to offer that. There are LOTS of CPR centers in the greater Houston area, you can get it today, if you wish. I'd do that, just to be safe. Do you have your shot records? Have to started your Hep B series? You may need to look into doing the accelerated version of that of you haven't started it, some nursing schools require you have the entire series before beginning clinicals..

I'm not sure there is any respect due here at all, if I'm being honest. :)

Nursing schools can be very disorganized, just roll with it.

Lol, I suppose so, then! Geez, that sounds so stressful. Surely, with all the preparation they should've had, it should've been done already. I had to wait a month and a half from the deadline to get my acceptance e-mail. I have some friends going to a different school, San Jacinto, and they're already awaiting uniforms and survival week. :bored:

Yes, they've been put on suspension for the ADN program because the NCLEX exam scores were quite low. I was originally going to apply for that, but I suppose LVN to RN will be fine for next year.
