Nicu/ prior military- my options in hi

U.S.A. Hawaii

Hello! I have 2 years of active duty military experience and I have 3 years experience In NICU, 2 in med/surg. I'm not completely committed to working in just nicu but I wondered if NICU in hawaii is hiring often? Which islands have a nicu? Which island hire more for nursery? I'd prefer to live on a slower paced island, but would you recommend that? Thanks! I'm looking to move out there by the end of the year.

I would like any and all information about nursing in Hawaii. Are they hiring? Are the people friendly and is the community diverse and accepting of other cultures? I'm a NICU nurse, do they have a need for nurses in NICU or should I try to gain experience in another field to optimize my chances for hire? I'm about to expand my experience into critical care to be more marketable.

Hi,

My wife works at NICU in Kapiolani Medical Center. It is the biggest NICU department in Hawaii. They do hire often and they are building a brand new NICU department.https://www.hawaiipacifichealth.org/kapiolani/

Kapiolani is the ONLY NICU open to the public here on Oahu. Tripler has a NICU but its military only.

As far as Hawaii being open to other cultures, people here are to some degree. I think it's more about you needing to be open. Don't expect to come here and everyone to adapt to you and your ways, you won't be liked at all. Come here with an open mind, be respectful, and don't be rude/impatient. Local people here do have some negative feelings towards mainlanders as people from the mainland haven't always treated Hawaii with respect.
