In hawaii we are literally on hawaiian time.... simply said it takes a long time to get through the system.

Queens ... watch out this one takes the longest

Straub ... be ware of HPH.

avoid Pali momi especially if you are a new grad or newer from the mainland.

I guess the experience is individual.

I mailed in an application to Queens, got called four days later, and was asked to start the following week.

Thanks for the info.

I have been applying everywhere...starting to think new grad=plague.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh...I didn't realize you were a new grad.

I was not, at least not when I applied to Queens.

...I figured you were not a new grad when you applied to Queens...that' all right, all info has been helpful to me in some way.

Hi MalamaRn06,

Just wondering why new grads should avoid Pali Momi? And Straub...to be ware of HPH? Sorry for my inquisitiveness....I used to work at Straub, not as a nurse, but as a therapist. I want to go back to school to get my RN and looking at either Straub or Pali Momi as a new grad in RN.

I know HPH isn't the coolest of places with the nurses strike recently at Wilcox..

Aloha!

totally new to this, i dont even know how to access a chat room, so this is going to be interesting. been an RN graduate for 10 years but working as an LPN. passed my boards in oct this year after taking it for the first time since graduating. now on the job hunt on maui. i'm currently working at kaiser as an lpn, well for the last 7 years. give birth to my third child in feb, so of course it puts a crimp in my job hunt, but anyway i also applied at nurse finders, i figure i can still work here and there before i go on maternity to get some RN experience down. what i am interested in is doing insurance physicals, but i dont know where to start or what to do. any advice?

Hi everybody! I just happened across this forum. I'm a new grad (well, 6 months ago, which definitely counts) who used to live in Hawaii for quite a few years. I ended up moving to the mainland for school and found a great job over here. However, I'm coming "home" (cuz that's what Hawaii got to be for me) in February to get married, and my husband and I are both interested in moving back permanently in the very near future. We're both telemetry nurses. He works on a medical tele floor, and I work in the Cardio-thoracic Surgery stepdown unit. Does anyone have any good recommendations for us? Would we be better off taking traveler jobs first and scouting out the job market then?

We're definitely wanting to stay on Oahu, at least for the time being. Haven't decided yet where we're going to live, although I'd rather stay on the Windward side or in town.

Any help any of you can give me is definitely appreciated.

Mahalo!

Aloha, I'm not new to Hawaii, been living here since summer 2005 but just looking for a job here.

Do anyone have advice about experienced nurses who are returning to work?

Any hospital has good orientation program or good program for new grad that experience nurses can join?

Anyone ever worked at Hawaii Mecical center (Former St.Francis at Liliha)?? How do you think about this hospital?

Thank you ...Mahalo
