My Cousin Susan took Louis Armstrongs vitals once as a student nurse !!!!!!!!!!!
Yes I have. I don't see the big deal if you don't mention a name. Sheesh. It is not like I am saying I cared for a person's liver cancer or revealing detailed information..............
Hippa is way over the top of what the legislators intended it to be. I read the legislation and was active in parts of it and it's development.
sigh,
renerian
Last I heard, no one has legislated what we can think and everyone has a right to their opinion. I graduated 28 years ago, and we honored confidentiality then as now.
No one ever spoke a patients name or situation in an elevator or in earshot of anyone, a stranger can be the patient's mother. Old stuff. I used Louis Armstrong as an example, he has been dead for 25 years. Some people really need to get a life. I wasn't going to mention this but hell why not.
I will tell about life treating a famous celebrity.
An internationally famous man was dying of cancer. I was asked to care for him giving him his chemo at home. I was followed by paparazzi.
I had to change my route every day. I had to use friend's cars. When I arrived, I was searched from head to toe, they were afraid I had a camera and it would end up being an "Elvis picture" on the front of the enquirerer.
Now did I say who, no. You have no idea, only what my experience was. It sucked. So go ahead, Let's hear the holier than thou crap.

I agree with protecting privacy!! Why is it necessary to post all the presentation visuals as if we don't understand without having been to the seminar? Sheesh, I was just stating what happened a *long* time ago. A time when small communities looked out for one another and took care of one another. Care baskets were brought to patients and or family homes. Churches prayed for the ill, and members volunteered to help the family. It was a different line of thinking then regarding privacy issues. The paper hasn't published that kind of information in eons!
One thing I don't understand though. Why isn't privacy an issue when it comes to newspapers publishing marriage license applications and dissolutions of marriage? Seems to me there's a good case to be made about not disclosing such information.
Anyway, JMHO.

Those are matters of public record, not confidential --anyone can have access to that information. Same with business licenses, real estate transfers, etc.
besides, we live in a country where 2 out of our last 3 presidents can't correctly pronounce "nuclear'
Actually according to http://merriam-webster.com
Main Entry: nu-cle-ar
Pronunciation: 'nü-klE-&r, 'nyü-, ÷-ky&-l&r
Both are correct pronunciations.
Note: Being from the same family, those 2 presidents are from the same geographic location. Which would explain their "different from yours" pronunciation of nuclear. And the third president, well don't even get me started on the third.

Well, Excuse Me! I still think it is inappropriate for a professional to even ask.
