Hi, I was just wondering if anyone here has taken an OR training program through distance education in Ontario? Where you happy with the program? I am looking at George Brown, Mohawk, and Algonquin. (I cannot take time off or move for all in-class run courses.) Thanks for any feedback.

hi, i'm looking at algonquin too but for the critical care or emergency programs. i don't know if they'll actually accept me because i don't have two years acute hospital experience. i wonder, as an ien how will i get the experience if every time i browse a position it's clear that preference will be given to those with additional education/experience.
what comes first: the egg or the chicken????
in any case: good luck to all of us who want to put the time/effort to advance in our careers
Well from being a Ontario nursing graduate 2yrs ago, most specialty areas require at least 2yrs acute care nursing experience and also want a specialty certificate in that area, or substantial previous experience in that area. With the hiring freezes, there are really not a lot of jobs to be had anywhere.
But eventually things will have to open up, and I would like to have more choice on where I can work. From what I have heard, most employers consider all post-grad certificates equivalent.
But I want to hear from the students who have taken the courses, about their learning experience. I have taken some online courses before, and some instructors do not give feedback. I want to have a positive learning experience with distance education. If anyone recommends a program/school (or does not) for distance education, please let me know. You can also Private Message me. Thanks.
