I just applied to Medical Learning center in Arlington and I cant seem to find any reviews about this place online. Did anyone take the LPN program here?

Yes, I have attended this school and am trying desperately to get as far away as possible from this school. They will not allow me to take my NCLEX-PN exam and they refuse to give me certification of completion. I, along with several other students, are currently hiring an attorney to sue the school. The school has already been put on probation by the Virginia Board of Nursing (which, they NEVER tell you-- they are incredibly dishonest, yet another reason they are being shut down.) The court case will be in November and here is the document that you can find on VA Board of Nursing website:

http://www.dhp.virginia.gov/Notices/Nursing/0026000211/0026000211Order07202012.pdf

I earned a B.A. degree (from a Private University, mind you) before coming to this "school" and found repeated discrepancies by the school and ESPECIALLY the director: [moderator edit of name]. She is nothing short of a nightmare. She and her sidekick [moderator edit of name] are incredibly dishonest people. [moderator edit of name] is getting sued for being physically and mentally abusive during clinical, FYI...

I came here because I saw an opportunity for a quick fix to get my LPN as I decided to change careers in my life and wanted to be a nurse. This was the worst possible decision. I do not know of one single student who has taken the NCLEX-PN and passed it. I only know a handful of students who were even able to take the NCLEX-PN exam. The school continues to add on ridiculous requirements and measures (all last minute, of course) in order to "graduate" from their program. In speaking with the VA Board of Nursing about it, they encouraged the students to get an attorney and go after the school because unfortunately their hands are tied until this court case resolves.

That being said: PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND WALK AWAY FROM THIS DISASTROUS EXPERIENCE THAT HAS BECOME A MAJOR REGRET IN MY LIFE.

YES, and let me tell you Medical Learning Center gave me the opportunity to become a nurse. I was challenged on the placement test and [moderator edit of name] gave me the opportunity to write why I wanted to be a nurse. this cause her to except me in the school. It was a blessing that I was able to express my feelings about becoming a nurse and this is why I continued at the school, Yes it was hard just like it should have been. [moderator edit of name] always expressed her feelings to me how important it was to study hard and to take my books serious. She said if I did not get the information one time then read it ten times these were her exact words to me and others. Her expressions of tough love seemed harsh at the time but I am so glade I began to listen to these comments to motivate myself. I have gained so much knowledge and information from this school. I also was offered that opportunity to repeat classes I did not pass with no fee added. Repeating Medical Surgical Nursing II strengthen me all around and it was a major step to preparing me for that NCLEX

Following the individual plan given to me by MLC i.e. outside reviews, helped me so much to prepare for the NCLEX. [moderator edit of name] and [moderator edit of name] worked hard with me as individuals giving me the opportunity to be successful in passing the NCLEX the first time I will be honest through out the program I was frustrated and even cried at times . we must understand that things in life is hard but with hard work you can do it. knowledge is power I appreciate the tough LOVE' The COST WAS A CALLENGE. TIME OFF MY JOB WAS A CHALLENGE, FAMILY WAS A CHALLENGE. But today I am living proof that if you keep focused and listen to those who have been there you will be successful. I pass the NCLEX on October 4,2013 on the first attempt. I am happy to say that my 3yrs experiences has ended successfully. I feel so blessed. I thank, GOD every morning.

As with any program, check with the Virginia BON for accreditation and any pending actions. http://www.dhp.virginia.gov/nursing/nursing_edprogs.htm is a list of programs and http://www.dhp.virginia.gov/nursing/edprogdiscipline.asp has any disciplinary actions.

I am an LPN who obtained my training at The Medical Learning Center in Arlington, VA. I am writing today in strong support of the teachers of The Medical Learning Center.

In the fall of 2005, I enrolled in the Medical Learning Center with dreams of becoming an LPN. I started off with only my GED and a CNA license. After 18 months, Dr. Safia and the wonderful teachers made my dream come true. I had finally completed the courses and received my diploma. Five months later, I passed the NCLEX exam on my first attempt. Though the teachers may be strict, they are extremely supportive. When some students did not pass a class they allowed them to repeat it with no fee added. When my daughter was giving birth to my first grandchild the teachers allowed me to take a few days off to be present for the birth. They also gave me ample time to make up the work. I would recommend The Medical Learning Center to anyone trying to become an LPN.
