Hi, everyone! I just found out a few days ago that I was accepted into Harford's nursing program! First day is May 16th! Just wanted to connect with any others who are attending Harford this summer or fall. I will be in the evening/weekend program, clinicals on Saturdays. :)

Hi, congratulation. I was accepted into the traditional program start in the fall 2011. My first choice was the day accelerated program but didn't have enough point to get into the day accelerated program. So i was given the option for evening/weekend or traditional program. I went with the traditional program. Do you live in harford county?
Hi, Edu2me! Congrats to you as well!!
I also requested the day program, but after some thought, my husband and I thought that the evening/weekend times would be better for me. No, I live in Baltimore county. How about you? Are you excited about starting the program? Have you received your packet yet? Ms. Day said that we should be receiving everything by Friday. Was scheduling a problem for you concerning the evening program? Have you attended Harford already? If so, how do like the classes? Please let's keep in touch!
hi misstekaboo,
I live in baltimore city. I am very excited in starting the program. I haven't attending harford county community college but i heard it is a good school. yes, scheduling was a problem with the evening/weekend program. I am currently working on a evening master degree program at towson university and I am volunteer at the baltimore county ombudman program. All activities takes place in the evening. Evening class won't work out for me.

What masters program are you working on? What is your orientation date? I know that I have to be at two orientations: May 5th and May 16th. I have three little boys, so I know that I will definitely have to be flexible and structure my study time. My husband has been so supportive, so that really helps! Do you know anyone else at Harford? I have a friend in her third semester there. She said that alot of traditional students get the opportunity to move to the accelerated program after beginning. Maybe you will have a chance later to move to the accelerated day program.
I just received the admission letter today. They didn't specify the date for the orientation for traditional student. Goodluck on your career goal and I hope to see your in the fall semester......
Great to hear you got your packet! I am spending a few days at my parents so I will not get my mail until tomorrow. Please keep me posted with your future endeavors!:)

I have also received my acceptance to the traditional program. I am very excited for the fall and wish the best of luck to all who have been accepted.
Kenhermanjr, Congrats on your acceptance into Harford!! Also, welcome to this thread! I was just out today at Stats uniform ordering my Lab coat, pants, and shirt for school! I am super excited as well! Are you already a student at Harford? If so, how do you like attending there? I live in Baltimore county so I have no knowledge of the teachers or procedures. I have heard such good things about there program though! BTW, when you go to purchase your clothes for school, Stats is a great place. Very friendly staff, and we get a discount for just being a Harford nursing student! When do you have to have your CPR certifications done? I am scrambling because I only have a few weeks to complete alot of things (not to mention I am taking two classes this semester as well!).

Hi!! That is wonderful, I actually will be graduating from the weekend/evening program in August 2011. (We were in the first group) I will probably be seeing you guys in May, they usually hold a seminar type thing in Bel Air hall before the semester begins, and they 4th semester students kind of calm down the 1st semester students- it can be scary at first, but you guys can do it! :) btw my name is Amanda J! There are some perks to the program- the clinicals first semester aren't bad at all usually 7-530, but after that they go from 7-7 kinda like a real shift..preparation for the real world is how I see it! lol And about your instructor Renee, she is wonderful, tough, but you will learn ALOT!
Good luck with everything! See you around Maryland Hall!
Hi, Amanda! Thank you for introducing yourself! How did you like the weekend/evening program? In general, do you think that everyone in your class was successful in this new program? I am so very excited, and I have so many questions! I met another student from Harford, but she is in the day program. She initially was going to attend CCBC, but decided on Harford in the end. She says she loves the program. How much study time daily do you think is required to do well for each class? Also, I know that classes are in the evenings, Tuesdays and Thursdays, but do you find that you must attend open lab outside of those days? Sorry for all of the questions...just trying to prepare. Yes, I will be at the first orientation May 5th and then the second orientation is May 16th. My name is Taneka S.
Yeah, the beginning can be quite overwhelming. Overall my class has grown so much, we've all been on this journey together ( you will most likely spend a lot of time with the people in your program). We have only lost a couple students from drop out or fail. Study time I mean I can't actually give you a exact amount of time.. I can just say that its comparable to studying for A&P, but some things may come to you as common sense. (ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR ABCs when taking an EXAM!).Usually the most time you will spend in the lab is around a skill evaluation time... ( you will learn ALL about those!!!) but other than that I dont spend time in the lab, they do have it open/available for anyone who needs to practice skills outside of clinical if they are struggling or if you just want to refresh your skillset. I look forward to meeting the new 1st semester WEA group :)
