Back in January '07, I was doing my first clinical rotation on a surgical ward. One of my first patient's was a person was in for a hip replacement. Nevertheless, as a fresh, young, naive student, I did everything at a snail's pace and doubted myself every step of the way.
Fast forward to the present date and I'm working as an LPN on a different surgical ward. I'm standing in the hall reading a phamphlet on ostomies when a woman comes up to me and smiles. She says: "I remember you when you were a student on the other surgical ward. You might not recognize me but I remember you. Although you were inexpierenced, I could tell you were caring, honest, and giving it all you got. You're going to be very successful."
I thought that was kinda cool.

What a kind, kind thing for that woman to do; bet that just made your day, huh? See?? you made a difference in someone's life.
Absolutely it made my day, and quite possibly is the major highlight of my brief career. :) I just kinda gawked at her when she said all that nice stuff because I've never had someone do something like that for me. Nursing pays decent, the career is diverse, and the stuff us nurses do is only what others can dream of. But above all that, making a difference in someone's life is undescribable.
