Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts Concord, CA

At first I thought this school was the best thing that ever happened to me and at first it was but let me just be honest and say I had the most stressful things happen to me here. The teacher turn over rate is obsurd and they have no teacher training, they throw you into the classroom with a syllabus and pre-written lectures and let the teacher freestyle with no structure. EVERYTHING and I do mean EVERYTHING is unorganized here. I learned lots from some teachers but other teachers not so much, I was forced to teach myself and read lots of times. The learning wasn't that big of a deal to me. Its the personal treatment that I had to deal with that made it all turn into a frown. I was mistreated, harassed and retaliated against because I was a whistleblower. I and a couple of other students protested regarding the quality of our education for the large amount of money that we were paying for it and since then we had been threatened to be expelled, blamed for making messed in bathrooms and all sorts of ridiculous things. It really is insane and shocking to me. I've never been treated this way by any institution in my life. At graduation my family came in large numbers and was super loud and excited for me, when I walked on stage i was told that "you're family is so loud, they're embarrassing me. I'm not going to give you this diploma" Then the person played around and snatched it away while I was standing there on stage with the fakest smile, looking silly. I was in complete SHOCK! That graduation date was two months ago. Since then, I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY DIPLOMA, It is now January of 2014 and while I saw lost of my other classmates posting theirs on instagram, I called to check on mine only to find out that Gurnick had " SOME SORT OF GLITCH" in their system and I now owed more money and they were holding my diploma AND my board application for my nursing license. What a coincidence that this is happening to me. AFTER TWO MONTHS, I NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE OF ANY ERRORS, DUE BALANCES, NOTHING AT ALL. My nursing board application was held back and not submitted back in November with the rest of my graduating class. Talk about retaliation, and all I did here was voice my opinion and not even in a rude way which I have EVERY right to do when I am a paying customer. My advice, stay away from this school if you stand up for your rights and for your money. Stay away from the school is you are not self-disciplines and cannot teach yourself in certain classes. Be prepared to be ****** off. Be prepared for unorganization and clinical sites that are useless to you nursing experience. Be prepared for drama and retaliation if you make a stand on anything with an instructor or with administration. Whether they tell you that they are there for you or not, doesn't mean ANYTHING! I was also personally threatened to be expelled. There were so many more instances and events that happened here to me and so many other students but people are afraid to write about it and warn others. I am not against a quick nursing education because that is what I needed and I am glad I finished however, the stress and mistreatment that came with it....not so much! #Goodluck
