Just wondering if anyone has heard back from their GUH new grad application for summer 2011. Are there any other area hospitals with new grad programs opening up for this summer?

I applied online last Friday. On Monday I received an email saying that I had been selected to take their "career battery" which is sent to potential candidates for hire. The email stated I had 48 hours to complete the career battery if I wanted to receive further consideration.
So I filled it out online this afternoon. I was thinking it would be med calc questions and some pharm stuff. Instead, it was more like a Myers-Briggs personality screening, to see how well I'd fit in with their culture. Assuming I didn't come across like a know-it-all axe murderer, the next step is they contact you to arrange an interview, which I think takes place in February '11.
I'm just starting to look for new grad opportunites for Summer 2011. I think GW, Childrens, WHC, and VHC are hiring next summer, maybe also Sibley and Suburban. I'm not sure what's going on at Inova: some nurses there tell me they have a hiring freeze, others say not so. I guess it all depends on the economy and the hospitals' census.
What area of nursing are you hoping to pursue at GUH? I'm hoping to get into either ICU or Heme/Onc.
Thanks for the response! Yes I completed the nursing battery as well, just wondering how long it will take to hear something after that. I hate that it said "if you don't hear from us we are not interested", I wish they could tell us yes or no! At this point, I am interested in whatever are I can be hired. Med-Surg is not at the top of my list, but at the same rate I know I will be grateful for the skills and learning opportunities that will be presented there. Let me know if you hear anything else from them. Good luck!

Not me. I was hoping somebody had heard something by now. I applied and completed the career battery and am hoping to hear back from them. Dec 7th was the application deadline so hopefully we will hear something soon!

I received a call today and they asked me my gpa, did I have a nurse extern and what I was interested in. She said that peds isn't open for summer. And that they would be in touch either December 15,16, or 17th. Anyone else get a call?
I got called again yesterday by the GUH nurse recruiter. They asked me what units I was interested in (I said ICU, Heme/Onc), and if I was interested in Nurse Anesthesia. I guess the later question is because many people spend a year or two in ICU only because it's a pre-req for many of the NA programs. Anyway, I said I wasn't interested in NA.
TheGUH recruiter told me they'd let me know something by Friday about invitations to in-person interviews. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. She also said they had received a boatload of applications.
Hello,
When did everyone apply that got a call back?..
I applied as well Nov 26 and did the nursing career battery but don't know how I did.. still praying and waiting patiently for a call back.
Thanks
I applied December 7th and I received a call on the 9th.
I hope they sent the email soon I'm getting so anxious!!!
I hope you get a call!!
I received an email invitation this afternoon to attend New Grad Day on Saturday, 2/5/2011 at GUH. The email states that this will be an all day event, and all new grad hires for Summer 2011 will be hired from this day. Also, RSVP's are due back by 12/22. After that, anyone's who hasn't responded will be deleted from the invitation list, and the open slots will be filled with additional invitations.
Finally, any new grad who gets hired is required to make a 2-year full time committment to work in the unit where they're hired.
