Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?
Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?
Is that cookie frowning or am I just reading more into it than is there...
You're not seeing things, the cookie is sad. Sad that it didn't get baked and mailed to all tokmom's AN friends. Sad that it's sitting on a shelf in the cookie aisle, waiting for some poor GCU online BSN student to go and buy it and enjoy its deliciousness.
Don't tempt me...work actually has these white cookies and hidden inside is this yummy raspberry filling. I have only had them once (during orientation over a year ago when they were free), if I buy one I will never stop. I'm hoping they never show up at a meeting because I will be making multiple runs to the cookie tray and then breakdown (to not look like the little oinker I already am) and take a stack to my seat.
I really hate deciphering the assignment requirements. Working on the Family health patterns paper and noticed that the patterns they have listed aren't like the health patterns that they are referencing (developed by Gordon). They combine health perception pattern and Values pattern into one and separated Cognitive health pattern and Sensory perception pattern into two different sets (which are listed in the book as one). WTH? Who ever came up with this assignment, I shall give a grade of an 'F'.
So do I write as Gordon's health patterns or should I do it as the paper description requires?
It doesn't help that I already developed questions and interviewed my family... Maybe I can change things to fit and ask some follow up questions.
Hi rob, I'm late joining this thread. I am in my last class and in the process of deciphering the Capstone syllabus myself, but I can tell you what I did for that Family Health Assessment. I wrote my paper with each of the health patterns separately and addressed them as their number. My instructor did not combine the patterns, for example I wrote it like this:So do I write as Gordon's health patterns or should I do it as the paper description requires? It doesn't help that I already developed questions and interviewed my family... Maybe I can change things to fit and ask some follow up questions.
"The first category of Gordon's functional health pattern is Health Perception. This pattern relates to the patient's perceived pattern of health or well-being. The interviewee was asked if the family had any absences from school or work in the past year. The children of the family had no absences from school, the father missed no days at work...."
"The second category in the functional health pattern is Nutrition. Assessment is focused on the pattern of food and fluid consumption. Actual or potential problems related to the gastrointestinal system may be assessed as well. The interviewee was asked how many glasses of water are consumed by the family daily...."
As long as you're addressing each pattern, you will be doing it correctly. Even if you were to combine them like the description did, you are still acknowledging each pattern. Hope this helps, good luck.
It's a great place to come if you don't want to do homework!
This is true! I find myself avoiding homework more often than I care to admit. haha I accidentally left my iPad in my locker at work, of course it's during my 5 night off run and live waaay too far from work to go get it. I always use my iPad to keep up on AN. So I will reunite with it tomorrow night when I go in. yay. I have spent my entire day working on the compassion fatigue paper for Spirituality which should have been fairly easy as that was a topic focused on in research. For some reason it was a struggle to get my rhythm going. I fear it may be my worst paper I've written thus far in the program. Probably should've walked away for awhile instead of being stubborn and forcing it. Right now I'm not feeling the energy to revise it. UGH. We will see what tomorrow brings...
