Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Why is the time so off?

Off the island you go....I would never be able to do that, because by that time I would be freakin'!!!!!

No doubt. I don't know how you paper whizzes do this.

Hi there, physiology is basically the way the body works, pathophysiology is the study of how diseases work, like diabetes. To me they are two different things. I took anatomy & physiology in cc and I had to take pathophysiology this year at GCU because they are not the same. Hope that answers your question. 

Yep, what purple said. Patho is the study of disease, so it will be on your list unless you have taken it already.

To all: How can I set my time to your chat? I for certain am not up at 3 am!!!

I am not sure if I registered wrong?

I think you can change your time in the settings to whatever time zone you are in

Right it is showing you are posting at 3:31 am?? Thanks will do so.. don't want you to think I am and weirder than you already do!

Ok no, no easy way. I have tried several times... Just know, I am not posting at 4 am!!

I don't see a time when anyone posts and you must? I would never care anyway. Some work nocs and post on their breaks. Some post mid day, lol. Whatever floats your boat. :)

I post during the night because I stay up all night. And I don't work nocs! Lol. I'm actually hoping for a noc position soon, I figure I'm already up I might as well get the differential pay.

Thanks everyone for the info on pathophysiology. Guess I was just hoping for 1 less class!

Nights was my faaaaavorite shift EVER. My circadian rhythm is definitely 0-dark-thirty. Even as a little kid I'd be up all night coloring or something, but come morning mom had to drag me out the bottom of my bed by my ankles (ker-plunk!). So ahhhh, night shift :heartbeat: : Few docs. NObody's stealing your chart. NO families. NO meals to deliver/clean up/count. NO case managers telling you to get your pt ready to DC. NO trips to MRI/CT (well unless it's an emergency). NO menus/dietary. NO PT/OT. NO administration, except for the House Sup. NO taking your pt for laps around the nrs station BID dragging the IV pole, Pleur-Ex, foley. PLENTY of chairs. Only the occasional turf your stable dude to Tele because ED's bringing up your new tPA'd CVA. So draw labs @ 0400 & give baths @ 0630, I'll take that trade off any day, and you get more $$$ ? Yes, had the time of my life.

Oh, and NObody's at the grocery store when you get off @ 0730!

The time you see by everyone's name is based on your settings. YOU see a different time than I do - it defaults to your own timezone. I may see 9:23pm on tokmom's post, but on her end that same post will say 8:23pm (or 11:23 if she's in Florida?).

To change your timezone: Go to the little gear-shaped thingy (just left of the heart), right above where it says 10,207 Readers Online. Scroll down to Site Settings. Choose your time from the Time Zone dropdown options. Then scroll down again, click Save All Settings, and viola, all the times we post will show according to YOUR clock in your neck of the woods!
