Graduation Gift Ideas for Big Brother?

Published

Hi all --

I'm in my first semester of my ADN program. At my school, we receive Big Brothers or Big Sisters, which are second year students who sort of mentor us and answer questions and just generally look out for us -- this might be common among all nursing schools but I wouldn't know.

Anyway, my Big Bro is just super. He has been so helpful and kind and really available to me. He will be graduating at the end of next semester and I'd like to get him a small gift. Do you think that would be appropriate? If so, does anyone have any ideas? I'd just like to get him something he can really use as a brand-new RN, that he may not have thought of for himself, as a token of my appreciation for all he has done for me. Additionally, I hope to be as good of a Big Sister to a first-year student next year.

Any and all suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

a nice stethoscope always comes in handy or a pocket organizer to keep scissors, pens, etc.

how about a nice watch with a metal band and a second hand to wear at work. (i don't like leather bands - they gross me out when they get wet)

A gift basket of Tylenol, Advil, and Tums with a gift certificate to a coffee place.

I LOVE gift baskets!

The best gift I got was a box of my favorite pens (my personal favorite is Pilot ultrafine point) I never knew how much the quality of your pen can affect the quality of your day until I started in the Unit. Otherwise coffee is always a crowd pleaser.

My favorite gift was a one-serving size coffee press. That way I could make Starbucks at work instead of drinking the gross hospital coffee. I think you can find them online for something like $5-15.

haha well so far all the responses ive herd are pretty... nerdy to say the least. i think that if you want to get something for your big bro get him something he will use. my brother is one ot those kids that is obsessed with guns haha, so i got him a paintball gun for his graduation, its totally safe, and shoots balls of paint =) but its also fun. previous times ive got him laptop and car accesories, and he seemed to love that kind of stuff too.
