Graduate for 7 years but still not taking the NCLEX

Published

Hello, i am a nursing graduate in the philippines and i have been a graduate for 7 years now. Its not easy to start over kn a foreign land and it took me almost 5 years to get somewhat established. Now, i wanted to pursue my nursing career. I wanted some advise of how I will strengthen my study habits and motivation.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Practice questions and read the rationale even the ones you got right

If you want to invest some time, read Saunders Nclex RN book and practice a lot of NCLEX type questions. I graduated 7 years ago in the Philippines, took my first RN NCLEX last year and passed it. With determination despite of difficulties sure you can do it. There's no excuses if you're committed. I was a full time mom with no recent clinical experience (home for almost 4 years with my precious boy) when I challenged the beast. God bless!

Kaplan's online Qbank (question bank). Good luck!

I think you really should check with the board of nursing for whatever state you are looking to get a license in. Regulations vary quite a bit and you might find that you need to take English proficiency exams and/or additional school courses in order to meet the education requirements for an applicant who was educated outside of the US. I'd start there before worrying about how to prepare for the NCLEX. First make sure you will be ELIGIBLE to take it.
