Hello! Im currwntly a nursing student at SFSU and about to start my last semester.
When is the right time to apply for jobs? I have heard that most will turn you away without a license and other timea folks were able to secure jobs without having taken the nclex?
I am attempting to stay in CA after I graduate, but that can be a tough sell as well.
Any input would be great!

I don't know about CA, but all the residencies around here fill their spots before graduation. My earliest interview was three months before I graduated, and my latest was three weeks prior to graduation. The best way to find out for sure is to call the HR departments of area hospitals and just ask when they put up their new graduate positions, and when they typically interview for those positions. They have no reason not to tell you.

If for Graduate Nurse position, you can apply now. Put your anticipated graduate date.
For RN position, most hospitals or facilities won't call you back until you get your license.
But once I obtained my license, I git a call for interview within a week.
That happened to peers and me in Metro Detroit area...

I live in Va and graduated in May I had my job lined up in march. I started applying early March. accepted a position late march. Many of my classmates accepted positions much later but i had a good feeling and went with it and I am so glad I did. It all depends on the hospitals in your area.
Good luck with your last semester and job search!!

I graduate August 7, 2015, and I just had an interview/offer for a October Nursing Residency in Houston this week(7/15/2015). So I would recommend finding out what residency you want, and they usually list them on their websites(and include the dates when the hospital will open up applications) So I can't wait for October to get here now! =)

Start looking for residencies or new graduate positions multiple times a week once you start in August or September. Most hospitals with these types of programs interview new graduates while they are finishing off their last semester.
