Grad in NJ but moved to TX

Published

Hello,

I graduated from school in NJ... I registered with the NJ Board of Nursing and took the test once.... but failed. I have since moved to TX and would like to take the NCLEX. Would it be better for me to retake the exam through the NJ registration... and then just pay for a TX license after passing the exam...

Or should I complete a new background check, etc. to register in TX now... rather than get a NJ license and have it transferred????

Probably quicker to re register with initial BON and then endorse license once you have passed NCLEX

In order for you to endorse your license to Texas, you are still going to need to go thru their background check. This is a requirement for intial licensure as well as endorsement.

If you are looking at getting the exam done in the quickest time, then it is always faster with the original state; but you will still need to complete the requirements for the new state before they can issue a license to you.

Best of luck on your exam.
