GPA Requirements for Washington DC area schools?

Hi, I don't know if the response is too late but I go to Trinity right now (pre-nursing) and I'm sure you will get in for Fall as long as you have completed all the pre-req's by Fall. But it is important to go talk to a counselor ASAP and get everything done and finished during summer semester before fall starts. If you let them know, they let you take classes at community college and transfer over so you can save money. They try to get you in as long as you follow the guideline. I transferred over here as well but realized I didn't take everything for nursing so that's what I'm doing this Spring 2010 semester. Hoping to get in also in Fall. I like that Trinity does clinicals at major DC hospitals. Oh, don't forget to take the TEAS also.

Don't get your hopes up about George Mason as they've become extremely particular about selecting students. They prefer to get their students in and it's become almost impossible to transfer there from another school.

Marymount is OK. I've applied there before but their admissions office is just terrible. I turned everything in on time yet they messed something up and I was not accepted.

I'm not too sure about Howard and Catholic but I am also thinking about applying to Catholic for Fall just in case.

Also, there's Washington Adventist University in Takoma Park, MD. They have a great nursing program. I went to their orientation, signed up for classes and was gonna go there but ended up liking Trinity's DC environment better. But check this school out also.

Let me know if you have any questions about Trinity. It was impossible for me to find any information about it before I started going, so I'd like to help you out if you want to know anything about it.

I highly advise you guys NOT to go to CUA. They are really close to loosing their accreditation and right now are on "PROBATIONAL ACCREDIDATION" In 2009, they only had a 60% NCLEX pass rate. This year, they required their seniors to take a HESI (an Nclex-like exam that predicts passing rates up to 95%) and those who didn't pass they said they weren't going to graduate. Guess what? only 60% of the class passed it and they STILL are graduating those students who failed because the parents of many of these students have $$ and threatened the school with a lawsuit so the school folded like a cheap suit and they may loose accreditation a lot sooner. Plus its a lot of $$$ I know this because my friend is graduating from there this May.

I agree that CUA is very expansive compared to other great schools in the area. In fact, I've been accepted to both CUA and Marymount. Decided for Marymount. It is cheaper than CUA, and it has the 2nd NCLEX passing rate (right after Georgetown).

I hope I like their program.

Hi. I am in the USAF and currently trying to get into George Mason as a 2nd Degree BSN student (thru the NECP: Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Program of the Air Force). The NECP has quite a few requirements in place itself, like tuition cap for 15K/year as well as the program (and licensure) should not exceed 24 mos -- and so far, only a few programs meet this, GMU's Accelerated BSN is one of them, thus I am really hoping to be able to get in. Elhim412 mentioned that they are very selective, can anybody give more insight on their selection criteria, and maybe tips on how to improve my chances as well?

Hi, I just found out from someone attending Trinity's Nursing Program that it is an evening program, how are the classes coordinated? And around what time do the classes start? My sister went there undergrad and graduated in 2006, she told me the program much be new, because it wasn't there when she was. I'm a 2nd degree student and I have to work full-time. It's really hard trying to find programs that fit my schedule. If you could also tell me a little more about the program that would be great as well (i.e. NCLEX pass rates, student class sizes, how many people they accept). Also, I have been calling and calling, but no one ever answers. Do you know who I can call or email??? Or do I have to just go to the school (1hr drive). Thank you in advance.

I applied and was accepted last Fall at both Marymount and Georgetown, and decided to go to GU. However, I can recommend Marymount too. Although their admissions office apparently has issues, I have a friend there now, who'll be starting her final semester this Fall. From everything I hear, she's gotten a good education there.

I chose not to apply to George Mason's accelerated BSN program after being waived off by some practicing nurses I know. Their feeling was that GMU's 12 month program cuts too many corners. They do in 3 semesters what Marymount and GU thinks needs 4 semesters (about 16 months, if you include summers) to complete. Again, that's hearsay on my part, but I'd be interested to know what their first-attempt pass rate is on the NCLEX.

Hello!! I currently applied to towson and washington adventist for their spring program, i an waiting to hear back from them and my gpa is about 3.26 right now by the end of this term it should be at atleast 3.32 or so....what are my chances of getting in? I am so scared and tense

I know someone who recently graduated from CUA and got a great job afterwards (seriously, something that would be my dream job) but... she said not to go there.

Apply to Trinity University in DC. They have a 2 year BSN program if you already have a previous degree. I applied and got accepted without any hassle. They have clinicals at Washington Hospital Center.
