Will the Navy, Marines, Army or Air Force take and ADN or Diploma nurse with a bachelor's degree in another field?

I have two Bsc. degrees plus 1/4 of aa MPH degree. I have been looking to joining after I become an RN.

From the website they say they require a BSN. Back during my early college days in the 90's I was told that all you needed to become an officer is a Bachelor's degree.

I know you can join the reserves as and ADN, but the initial period for someone with no previous military service is eight years. I would much rather do active duty for 3 years or so.

I don't want to call a recrutier or sign that form online 'cause I really don't want anyone calling my house all the time.

Does anyone know? I am partial to the Navy, but I will take info on any service branch.

The Air National Guard also accepts ADN nurses per their website.

Q. What about nurses in the Air National Guard?

A. To be a nurse in the Air National Guard you must have either a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or an Associate's Degree in Nursing. The nursing degree must be from a National League of Nursing (NLN) accredited program. If holding an ADN, you must agree to obtain your BSN prior to obtaining the rank of Captain in the Air National Guard.

I want to say that I just read you CAN have an ADN with a BS in another field to go into the USAF, but my guess is NOT having a BSN would hurt you in competing for a slot.

Call a Health Professions recruiter (BTW, these are not the guys in the shopping malls, this is a specific branch of officer recruitment, so your best bet is to go to the USAF website and fill out a request to speak to one if you can't locate one in your area with Google. I did that and got a call in two days).

Hello again! can you please tell me the difference between the Army and the National Guard? Can I be a nurse in NG and the Army? pros and cons of each? Thanks

The Army is federal government & the National Guard is state. With the National Guard you can be activited for state & federal emergenices.
