Military reserve nursing in southern california. Help!

  1. Hey all,

first and foremost, I'm looking for anyone's experience on reserve nursing in Southern California. I by no means want to offend any particular branch or service, but I'm pretty clueless on where to begin. I just relocated to Orange County with my fiance and am seeking to be a reserve nurse. I have two years of ER nursing under my belt but as of now plan to start a program in the delivery room this winter (OB nursing is my dream).

So so I guess I have two questions

    1. Is there any particular reserve branch that people find convenient in socal?

    2. Is there any reserve branch that offers OB, or do you think I'd be locked into ER no matter what to start due to my experience?

    thanks for any help

If you want to do ER or OB bedside nursing care during your reserve drill weekends, then you're probably going to have to do Navy Reserve and look at Balboa Naval Medical Center in San Diego. San Diego has the only major military medical center in Southern California to my knowledge.
