Miami VA...Oh boy!

Hi I was hired by the Miami VA. I have been told over and over how great the benefits are and I am really not seeing it. And the starting pay is so low that it seems like an insult. I was offered $15.00 with 2 years of experience. That's almost $6 lower than what I currently make working for corrections. And to top it all off they want me to start orientation this month and it starts at 8 am and I told them that I can't arrive so early due to family responsibilities and they were not willing to accommodate me. I feel like I have waited for 2 months for nothing...the physical, background checks and tons of paperwork...just to be let down...

Why did you wait so long if the pay was so low it is an insult? You have a job and that silly employer wants you to come to work at a certain time. Unbeleiveable. I just would not work for the idiots. Mention your requiremnts for time flexibility before they hire you next time. Back to corrections with you.

Yeah...I was going to leave my old job until I realized that the pay at the VA was way too low. I should have known that something was wrong when they kept trying to get away from telling me the starting salary. I learned an important lesson always ask for the starting salary right away and don't do any that's requested until I know how much I'll be paid. The Miami VA should be ashamed to offer such a low pay scale and want experienced nurses at the same time. I will continue to search for something better with good pay. thanks for the response.
