Army Active Duty FY18

Hi all!

Anyone else complete a packet for the upcoming boards FY18 for Army Active Duty? My packet has been board approved and now it's just wait and see!

I'm applying as an ER nurse. I have a few years experience at a level 1 trauma center and a few board certifications. No prior military experience. I've been working on my packet for almost 6 months!

I'd like to hear what everyone else's experiences have been!

Does anyone know if they do a graduation ceremony after bolc is completed? Do you leave for your new duty station immediately after or are you at ft.sam awhile longer after graduation?

We had a graduation ceremony after the common core portion of BOLC, then remained at Ft. Sam for two weeks for nurse track. This was 2011, so it might have changed!

Pixie.RN, about what time at BOLC did you receive your PCS orders for your permanent duty station? I have a house and family to get ready for move, so I'm trying to plan everything out.

I had my orders two weeks before I went to BOLC, lol. But I knew where I was going, I discussed it with my branch manager at HRC. Your orders for BOLC are usually TDY en route to your duty station, unless you are being stationed at Ft Sam - then you are considered permanent party.

Hello. When you spoke with your branch manager, was it one of the point of contacts posted on the HRC website? I'm waiting for an email from the 66H assignment manager (for the new LTs), but I am not sure if I should contact her first or just wait for her email. I don't want to be rude since it seems like the assignment manager changed recently, so this person might be catching up with work.
